View Full Version : Sports you'll enroll your children in

If I have a son I will most likely sign him up to play hockey and baseball.

My daughter will learn the importance of cooking and cleaning up around the house. :D :p

I'm kidding, I'd likely have my daughter play soccer and hopefully figure skate too. Unfortunately, since figure skating is so corrupt, I wouldn't want her to compete in major competitions that are judged in a totally subjective manner. I just think skating in general is a very cool and fun sport for girls.

Of course they could play any sport they want, these are just my preferences.

Ultimately they can participate in whatever sport they want. I don't really have any preference. But giving all four major North American sports a serious shot is something I'd like to see. Also, would martial arts count as a sport? Karate, tae kwon doe, judo, etc. If the answer is yes, then that would be another one I'd encourage.

I think it counts as a sport and that's something that I would also encourage both of them to participate in.

If I had kiddies I would let them participate in any sport they wanted to. I would especially encourage them to join team sports (basketball, baseball, hockey, etc.) because just from my experience, team sports were more fun than individual sports like gymnastics. Plus, sports like gymnastics, figure skating, and diving are very perfectionistic, which takes some of the fun out of it. They're still fun, but they're also a lot of extra work because they have to be aesthetically appealing. I wouldn't want my kiddies to worry about perfection, I would want them to just have a good time.

My parents refused to let me play team football or hockey as a child. I will not impose such restrictions on what my children can play, as long as they are having a good time. I'll also try to learn from my earlier mistake and teach them not to be poor sports, and that winning and losing doesn't matter and it's just a game; having fun is what counts.

I'll definitely try to convince them to do running and tennis though...

Any sport they wish. if they get their fathers build, and my girlfriends general fitness and work ethic, they would probably make excellent rugby players ;). they are also probably going to be opened up to fishing, even though i consider that to be more of a hobby than a sport. but yeah, anything they really want to do is fine by me. except curling.;)

If I had creepy Stepford kids who wouldn't play Football or Hockey because both sports scare the hell out of me...I'd say for the lads: soccer or baseball...and for the lass: soccer or tennis. I'd want both to be decent skaters, since I was quite the skater meself when I was 4 (no, seriously)...but, the skating world is so freaky and competitive, I wouldn't want them to be too deeply involved.

Seriously, I'll probably be the type to make them wear helmets whilst playing chess ;)

Actually, I say martial arts for both of them. It can never hurt to be able to protect yourself, and it also has some good ties with mental control, discipline...etc. I know a 17 year old chick who is a black belt and probably 4 inches shorter than me (5'2 or so)...I won't go near her for fear she'll punch me (which she did do once, and it left a bruise on my arm for a week, no kidding).

For the littly tyke: Hockey. Well, that's what I'd like. Whatever he wants to do, I'll suport it.

For the little girl: Same as the boy. I'd like her to know how to skate, though. Take it up as a hobby, maybe.

If I have a son I'll likely end up forcing him to make up for my past failings in football. I'll make Todd Marinovich's dad look like the father of the year :D

But seriously I don't plan on pushing any future little Bmain77s into anything they don't want to do and support anything they want to do perhaps even if that means having to go to soccer practices and games. That'll be painful. It's bad enough going to my nephews soccer games which are played at the local little league baseball complex.

I'd ultimately let 'em choose, of course (spoiled buggers), but if I did have to encourage 'em to a certain type of sport, I'd say:

-- Team sports for the boy. Ain't no better school of life than team sports. Baseball, basket-ball, hockey, soccer, football...whatever. Just learn to be part of an unselfish team, kiddo.

-- Martial arts for the girl. I wouldn't want anything to happen to my little girl (I guess...unless she's a cunt), and I wouldn't trust any "dude" to take care of her, so she better learn to kick buttocks by herself. :)

I will now unveil my secret master plan for becoming incredibly wealthy and being able to retire in less than 20 years.......

I would like you all to meet my meal ticket: MIZ Jr.

Of course he is still a few years from being born (Mrs. MIZ doesnt want to give up her social life). But MIZ Jr. is not going to be raised like any average child. Then day he turns 4, I am going to sit down with him and have a man to man discussion. We will discuss the pro's and con's of all of the major proffesional sports as well as MIZ Jr's aspirations and personal preferences. At the end of this discussion we will have decided upon one sport. And from that day forward, MIZ Jr's every waking moment will consist of training to be the greatest of all time in his chosen sport.

I will not enroll MIZ Jr in school. (After all, what do you really learn in school). Instead he will be enrolled in a study program about his sport of choice. If he chooses basketball, then we will pour over hours and hours of MJ footage. If he chooses football, we will dissect and analyze the way Walter plowed through the line. He will learn from the best, how to be the best.

Forget about Lebron James, MIZ Jr. will be a national sensation by the time he turns 10. He will have a huge Nike contract by his 12th Bday and he will turn pro before he is 15.

Yes my fellow schmoes, the future is bright for me and MIZ Jr. Unfortunately there is one small possible flaw in my plan...and that would be if Jr. somehow inherited my athletic skill (or thereof)!!

Whatever they want....but if I have a son...he will most likely be involved in hockey...because it's in the genes :D We might not be able to play hockey, but we know how to coach.

I will encourage my kid(s) to play in sports that I play (indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, football, hockey and maybe rugby) But it will be ultimately up to them.

NO PRESSURE! ONLY FUN!
:D

Golf. Definitely golf. Huge money, not many injuries.

And football. Definitely football.

Not girl sports, like soccer.;)

My sentiments also. For my son, he would be involved in baseball and basketball. My daughter, anything she wants. But NO SOCCER!

I hate you.

The little monkey will play sawker and will like it. I suppose I would allow him to play basketball too and golf if I end up as a rich bastard.

If a boy... Football and Wrestling. Of course it'd be his choice of what he wants to do, I wouldn't care if it was soccer or tiddlywinks.

My girlfriend's daughter seems to be quite the basketball pro.

Hockey. If I have a daughter, she'll play goalie, as I don't want her pretty little face getting scuffed up. My son will probably take after me (looks-wise), so a couple shots to the mouth can only help him.

I would let my son/daughter (if I have kids) play whatever sport they want. I would push a little toward Martial Arts, Diving, Gymnastics, Weight Lifting and/or my fav, Rugby.
