I just wanna say that I HATE these types of ads for movies. Even if its for a movie I like, or one I wanna see when it comes out. I hate it. They just make it seem like everyone in the world is retarded and cant remember when a movie is coming out. So they have to remind us, day after day, that the movie will be coming out soon.

Lately, it seems like every movie that comes out, in theaters or video, uses this type of commercial. This past week, when I was watching tv, I saw ads for Bruce Almighty coming out on DVD. I knew a month ago it was coming out on the 25th (yesterday), yet every ad said "In 4 days......" In 3 days...." "In 2 days...." "Tommorow...." "Now on dvd..." When I saw the ad this morning, saying "Now availalbe on special edition dvd..." it was just like "I FUCKING KNOW ALREADY!"

What happened to the good old days when movies would come out, they'd say the release date, like "Coming December 7th" and thats it. Then the day the movie came out you'd get the "Starts Today" ad? Now everything has to be shoved down our throats day after day after day until im screaming at my tv to shut the fuck up already!

Damn THIS pisses you off? First...step away from the TV. Second...go lay down and take a few deep breaths, let the rage subside. Finally...I think it would be best to take a trip to the psychologist :p

Seriously though, I guess you have to understand a lot of moviegoers aren't film geeks like us. So I guess Hollywood assumes they are idiots therefore the constant reminders of when a movie/DVD is coming out.

do you wath alot of TV??

I can understand how this may get under your skin.. but as the poster above me noted... not all people are buffs like us... and they do need to be shown when a movie is released. Because they may have those busy ass lives and 2 weeks ago they see a trailer for Bad Santa and say they really want to see that... but here is 2 weeks later, and they have been busy as fuck and they see a commercial and it says "Bad Santa.. Now Playing" and they are like "Holy Shit.. i gotta go see that, maybe tonight"!

It's all part of advertising. If the company keeps repeating the release date it will stick in people's minds. That's all it does. And it obviously works because it worked on you. You were able to say that Bruce Almighty did that in the commercial. Just chill out and realize that not everyone may watch t.v. 24/7 so that's why they keep repeating the release date. It's all part of business. They want their product to be the one that people buy.

I don't watch much television so i have been shielded from such advertising. to me though, it just seems like a good way to make advertise an upcoming release. if it bothers you, you could always just channel hop until the ads are over?

It doesnt bother me. Sometimes I don't pay attention to release dates. Pssssh, I dont even care unless it's a movie I'm interested in.

Everyone must run to see Bad Santa now!! Okay, now that my shameless plug for that hilarious movie is done, we can move on. :D I don't really mind this because I don't watch enough TV for it to really bother me and it does likely help people remember when a movie they want to see is being released.
