Suprisingly nobody has yet made a thread about the possibly most consistently great actress working today, Cate Blanchett.

Talentwise she gets as big YAY I can possible give. If her resume so far is anything to go by, I think she is one of the best actresses in film history. A stunningly versatile actress who can do ANYTHING.

So far her role in LOTR has been the only thing where I felt a bit underwhelmed, but it was a question of misguided direction, her performance was exactly what the script and director wanted it to. The films have made a good use of her STUNNING voice, thought.

As far as looks go she is also a big YAY. I don't find her "hot" per se, but she is very attractive in a classy, charming manner. She comes off as a very charismatic, witty and funny person in her interviews. And her face definitely has that "glow" to it. A wonderfully expressive and captivating face.

I don't think I could give as big YAY to any other actress working today. And she has a bery big and bright future ahead of her, I just hope that she won't give up on acting like she has hinted before...

I concur with all what Tuukka said. She's top-notch and stunningly beautiful. Currently, just Julianne Moore is higher than her in my top actresses list. So a huge YAY from me.

I can't wait to see her in The Aviator playing Katharine Hepburn! She may get the Oscar she deserves!

She's one of the very best actresses working today (top 3, possibly), and stunningly beautiful and charming as well. If I see her name listed as part of a cast, I know there's at least something good about the film.

Fantastic actress, when I saw her in "Elizabeth" didn't know who she was, great first performance, and now look forward when she in a flick. She reminds me of Meryl Streep in looks and acting department as she totally becomes the character and has that same classic beauty as Streep, in my mind has quickly become second best actress after Streep. In every flick she different, loved her in Bandits, Shipping News, Talented Mr. Ripley, Veronica Guerin, The Missing and The Aviator.
