View Full Version : Okay schmoes, let's boycott...

...AGENT CODY BANKS 2.

Why? Because it's a sequel crapped out as fast as it can be just so it can make money. The first film came out only a few months ago.

We, as movie fans, need to tell the studios that they can take their business elsewhere. We are sick and tired of these ridiculous sequels made solely for money.

Don't even say that it looks good for kids, because there are so many better films to take kids to see or rent on video. That's just a piss-poor excuse for your laziness to realize that you are just telling the movie studios to quit making quality movies and just make shite sequels.

It's time to take a fucking stand. If we can boycott this film like we boycotted Gigli and Tomb Raider 2, we can show the world that we're not gonna take it.

And, at least, if none of you realize what this film stands for, then I, at least, will be a lone boycotter.

God, I feel so dirty.

Did we need a boycott for this? If it weren't for this thread, I'd have never been the wiser.

How about Honey? ACB2 will flop anyway.

Honey is being boycotted in about two other rants. This one is all about the travesty that is ACB2.

Agent Cody Banks 2, huh? Honestly, what's the friggin' point? I guess I'll join in, but I hold no promises for Agent Cody Banks 3.

All of the films we boycotted so far flopped anyway.

Cody Banks was a minor flop. Lost a few million domestic.

I don't think the boycott is necessary really, but I haven't thought any of them were. If you don't want to go see a movie, don't go. The people who post in here in support of this boycott had most likely formed their opinions before hand. It's not like they were gung ho to watch Frankie Muniz tear it up once again in Cody Banks two and suddenly had an epiphany whilst reading this thread: "Oh my god...Cody Banks is lame!"

Anywho, all I'm saying is that these boycotts will accomplish nothing, but have your fun, I just wanted to say this once. Sorry if I ruined your run of loathing for Mr. Muniz and his co-stars :D

Ummm. May I add a brief addition to this boycott. Mainly it comes around to this question: Is this not a film targeted at a younger audience (I'd estimate 8 - 14)? I see no problem with a sequel to the first movie. My son liked it, and I see it as a James Bond for kids sort of thing. Maybe it's just meaningless fluff, but if kids are gonna see it and enjoy it, I dont see any reason to boycott it. Did you alos boycott the Spy Kids movies? Those were fun as well, although not the greatest pieces of film ever made.

Normally I would silently support your banning clubs (Gigli comes to mind) but not this one, sorry:(

Okay schmoes, let's boycott...

...AGENT CODY BANKS 2.

I was going to boycott it due to the fact that I'm over 12 years of age.

If my life came to a point where I would go to the theater to see or rent Agent Cody Banks 2 for my personal pleasures, I would reccomend myself to down a pint of everclear and flush myself down the toilet with a post-it-note that cited "Goodbye cruel world".

I just don't get this boycott. I mean it seems like most of you are over the age that the film is obviously targeted for...I know a lot of little kids that liked the first movie. I mean what are kids supposed to watch? Scarface? Requiem for a Dream? I'm sorry but boycotting a movie like this would be like boycotting Never Ending Story or Labyrnth(sp?) or Princess Bride when they first came out. Let the kids have their fun. My nephew loves Barney but I can't stand him, but it's not like I'm gonna go on a picket rally telling PBS's purple dinosaur to fuck off.

I was under the impression that Agent Cody Banks flopped itself. Why must these studios think that if a movie is a marginal hit with a child star that they can quickly throw a script together in a few weeks then release the film? Yes we don't have to watch it, but we have to bothered with seeing dumbasses buying tickets to such shit.

I mentioned that in my first post. I knew people would bring this up. My point is that there are so many better films to show to children, and there probably will be a better kids flick to show while this one is in theatres.

1.) There was a point to this thread.
2.) Apparently, everyone who has posted in this topic has listened to me.
3.) I only make unique rants in Rant, Rant, Rant. Do a search, they're all quite...different.

I'm a little confused... why are you boycotting this? (The fact that its being released pretty quickly after the first one is a weak reason.) Is it based on the fact that you saw the first one, and thought it stunk? What were you doing watching Agent Cody Banks in the first place? Its a movie for kids.
A little elaboration on your point, and you might lure me in.

I'm not exactly old, Neesh, but no, I haven't watched the original Agent Cody Banks. I don't care about it, because my point is about the sequel. The sequel has already been made in the same year the first came out. It's a shameless scam to get more money. The point of the boycott is to show the studios how upset we are because instead of making quality movies, they're making excuses to make more money.

Are you trying to say that the only reason Lynn wants to boycott this movie is because Frankie Muniz is the better version of himself? Jealousy will get you know where lynn, also I always think of you as the poor man's Mekhi Phifer anyway.

There is no such thing as a silly reason to boycott this movie. It just isnt possible.

For instance someone could say "im boycotting Agent Cody Banks 2 because i hate to mow the yard!" and i would take it. Its all good.

I actually loved "Agent Cody Banks" and can't wait for this sequel! They've obviously nurtured it a long ways in the pre-production phase and it should be a quality product, like the original!

In other news, I'm MENTALLY UNSTABLE. Ahhh.... the clay dogs are after me again! Mommy! Mommy!

;)

No, for serious, I'll join the boycott, because I was astonished that the sequel was made so quickly. I thought I was hallucinating when I saw it in the Trailers section. I don't really share the hate for Frankie, though. Don't mind him. And I don't think he should die.
