Hollywood 'It' boy Colin Farrell scored yet another hit over the weekend with action outing S.W.A.T going straight to the top with a healthy $2,741,337. This was Farrell's second highest debut behind Daredevil in March which debuted at #1 with $3,237,983. The other major debut of the week belong to Will Ferrell who, after two consecutive Advance Screening weekends, saw his Holiday happy ELF go straight to #3 with $1,040,070. Combined with its previous two week intake, it's managed $1,634,848 all together. In between the two was last week's victor SCHOOL OF ROCK which dropped off 41% in its second week. It still took in $1,231,277, and now has $4,392,950 to its name. REVOLUTIONS and TEXAS CHAINSAW... simultaneously declined 42% in their 4th and 2nd week respectively. The former saw a further $880,659 added to its bank, whilst the latter splattered out an additional $638,661. Their totals sit at $16,159,321 and $2,194,918. Also dropping two places were MYSTIC RIVER, SEABISCUIT and UPTOWN GIRLS. The Clint Eastwood directed drama declined 23% with $526,488, Tobey Maguire and his horse were down 37% with $384,989, whilst Brittany and Dakota saw the largest blow of the group, 45%, with $276,822. Their totals respectively sit at $1,582,257, $2,607,870 and $936,526. Crossing the Million dollar mark this week was Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo getting up to all sorts of naughty in IN THE CUT, which now has $1,142,878. Kiddie feature GOOD BOY placed at #10 on its first week in with $181,383. Continuing to rise and bring in the audiences, even after 10 weeks, Aussie drama JAPANESE STORY increased 14% with $145,620, taking its total to $3,420,810. After 7 weeks in cinemas, QT's KILL BILL looks close to ending its run, this week it was off 55%, with a total so far of $7,769,142. Not too shabby at all. Well cast legal thriller RUNAWAY JURY saw the biggest drop this week, 71%, and down a staggering 8 positions, no doubt due to its screen count going from 171 to 72, with a 5th week intake of $62,552. All together it's taken in $3,092,294. Closing off the chart this week is crowd pleaser PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN, which after 12 weeks in cinemas has scored a comfortable $24,918,905, the third biggest film of the year.

THIS WEEK (December 4th): After a slight absence from the big screen, Russell Crowe bounces back this week in the big budget epic MASTER AND COMMANDER:THE FAR SIDE OFTHE WORLD. The Peter Weir directed drama opens opposite the much smaller CABIN FEVER, which finally hits our screens after 2 release date delays, starring Rider Strong, Cerina Vincent and Jordan Ladd.

Great work FilmBuff

SWAT at number one was predictable. ELF i would of thought should of done better. Maybe closer to Xmas and the end of School it should get a boost. Its a great movie!

I cant see the Matrox:D staying around for to much longer. But $16million+ is still impressive

Pirates Of the Carribean did well with $23million as it slipps of the Top20.

Even though i dont like our boy Russell, I am looking forward to Masters & Commanders. Cabin Fever i'll wait for DVD :D:p

Keep up the good work FilmBuff

Thank you very much,,

I thought SWAT was pretty much a sure thing for #1. I thought Elf might makde it to #2, but a #3 debut is nothing to scoff at, and School Of Rock still took in an impressive amount.

Matrix is holding on to the Top 5 much longer than I thought, and I agree it won't last as long as Revolutions, but its total so far is nothing to scoff at.

Master and Commander will be the major release, and I think it has a good shot at #1, but I won't be surprised if it doesn't get there either, I don't know why. I really wanna see how Cabin Fever goes too.

As for your question, I have the US pop. as 292,735,263 and Aus. as 19,978,100. So divided that's (estimate) 14.65. I don't know if I have helped much, but if you wanna try and figure out what they would be in the states, or I can do it for ya, cause i have the whole number to be precisely accurate.
