What are some songs that you think are SO good, they simply cannot be duplicated. My picks are:

Has PJ Harvey ever covered a Beefheart song? She is a big fan and sites him as clear source of inspiration.
I'm sure you'd let her slide with that wouldn't ya Romero, hon?

Very nicely, in fact. When you can do The Who and The Buzzcocks in the same show...you have it goin' on.
To answer the question, I would truly hate to hear anyone try and do Tangled Up In Blue :(

Agreed. Nothing by Pink Floyd, especially The Dark Side of the Moon, could ever be covered competently. The only band on Earth that even potentially could cover it halfway-decently would probably be Radiohead.

Is that the version done by Layne Staley, Tom Morello and two other fellows? I know that version but never saw the movie so don't know if it is the same or not.

And Weird Al did a parody of Madonna's hit song titled "Like A Surgeon" Hilarious video BTW. :D

There shouldn't be Sex Pistols songs to begin with...talentless fuckwits that made shit music. All about the image, not the songs. I am not a punk hater either, I love The Clash, Bad Religion and a few others....but I loathe the Pistols.
Personally though, I am not a fan of covers on general principle. Unless the band changes it up nicely putting their own spin on it. My only exception is Primus doing N.I.B. by Sabbath with Ozzy on vocals...it's basically the same only it's driven a bit harder.
Now as for a song that I never want to see covered? Well, I don't care really...as long as it meets some sort of criteria...although I agree that no one could aptly cover Primus to any degree.
