View Full Version : Rant about my theatre. And the Fuhrer who runs it.

Criminey! I've never been so pissed at my theatre as I am right now. Even when they raised the ticket price from 6 bucks to 8. All the ridiculous price increases..Just let it roll of my back.

But now, it's reached an apocolyptic state. Starting with the new manager...Always had back luck with managers there, most are real dick wads. But none, I mean none compare to the new guy. I swear, he is the fucking Fuhrer. First off, he once pushed a kid, physically manhandled him for attempting to sneak into a movie. He's lucky he didn't get charged. Then at "The Missing" he kicked out an entire row of kids for talking. Sounds good, eh? Well, there was an innocent. My good friends brother that did not talk, but only sat in the same row. The Fuhrer then proceeded to ban all of them from the theatre for six months! Then even threatned to call the police! Christ, is that REALLY necessary? 6 months for talking and then threatning police action?

And oh boy, here's the real icing on the cake for me. Not getting movies. I swear, I don't know what is wrong with this entire theatre. They've lost their minds! First they don't get a big release like Gothkia...You see Bad Santa? WELL I DIDN'T! thanks to the "brilliant" business decions of Empire Studio 5! I was really looking forward to that one, too.

And whoopee I nearly had a coronary when I phoned up Empire and asked what movie they'd be getting in this weekend.....None....Yep, none. They've decided to stay with their current line up of oldies I seen and rancid looking shit I wouldn't touch with a ten foot clown pole.

So, as you sit and enjoy "The Last Samurai" please pore some coke on the floor for this poor Canadian boy that has to suffer through his theatres blunders insane tyranical leaders.

Mmm, better stop now, I'm beginning to feel lighted headed from the blinding bottled raged.

PS: Feel free to also rant about your theatre's short cummings also.

I felt this rage when the rerelease of Alien was only here for a day...and then left.

For talking, YES, ban people, at least for a while. If that makes me side with a "Furher", I will get a Nazi Swastika tatooed to my forehead.

But people who did nothing? I have sympathy with your friend on that.

If I am going to pay nine bucks to see a fucking movie do you think you can put some toilet paper and paper towels oh and soap in the bathrooms???? Do you also think you can get rid of the stale 3.00 box of Gummi Bears and get some fresher snacks?

ParileseMonster......are you ranting AT theatres or defending threatres?...

Anyway I hate managers like that, HE PUSHED A KID?! Did the kid fight the guy before he was pushed or was he just pushed? And a whole row banned because maybe 1 quarter of the people IN that row were talking!? Thats bullshit!

Submit the "Fuhrer's" name & document them to the Better Business Bureau. See if that will put the FEAR in him. Raoul, is this the ONLY theater? There must be others.

I am ranting at mine, the guy that started this thread told us to feel free to rant about our theatres shortcomings. Didnt it sound like I was irritated?

We have this one Usher at my theater who's threaten my friends with a baseball bat for trying to sneak in, when I was in 7th grade (it was a couple of years ago). The worst part is that asshole would always let his friends sneak in.

I am lucky because my theatre is rather cool. Not only do they get all the new films and have good prices, they don't care if you seek in to film after film. That's how I was able to see Timeline, The Haunted Mansion, The Missing, and Bad Santa all in one day without any hassle from the theatre. I can't believe they didn't notice that I was there for nine hours so they must not care. God bless Marcus Theatres.

There is an Empire Studio 8, but that's an hours drive.

I will try and get his name, though.

Anyway, I feel for you, man. But I swear to God, Nova Scotia does NOT know shit about movies and people's social lives. Nate, care to comment?

Nova Scotia rulz, biotch. ;)

Man, Raoul, I sympathize. I also have the experience that is Empire Theatres. Overpriced tickets, awful food, rotten managers, yep, Atlantic Canada's got it all. At least mine always gets new movies though (crappy as they often are: Master of Disguise on TWO screens? Fuck you, Empire!), and we have seven screens here, not five, and the floor is only occasionally sticky, but still, ugh. And the people who work there are mean, too. I know of some people who've literally been manhandled for sneaking in.

GO AWAY EMPIRE THEATRES

PS: Where do you live in PEI, Duke? Is it Summerside? You told me, but I can't remember. I blow.

The Empire Studio 5 where I live pisses me off to no end. It's a nice theatre, the seats are comfortable, it has stadium seating in every theatre, and everything more or less works. But your screwed if you want to see a horror movie. They almost never get them. In fact, I think the only ones that came here this year were Jeepers Creepers 2 and Gothika. Freddy vs Jason never came despite the posters being up for about a year. According to the person I asked who was selling tickets, it was too violent. (This same theatre later had Kill Bill for about a month, mind you.) I had to go to Moncton to see that. They never got Willard or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I don't think they ever got House Of The Dead or Dreamcatcher, I'm pretty sure they never got Wrong Turn either. Elf, while it was a good movie, has been there since early November, they also had Freaky Friday for almost two months. For some reason neither of the Legally Blonde movies ever came here, even though they were fairly big releases. One Hour Photo and Enemy at The Gates didn't come here until after they came out on video. The Italian Job didn't come until the end of August, and it was there for about three days.
That's my main beef with them, they keep movies for way to long, and because of this, there are a lot of things they never get.
