I've never even heard of this but I loved the A&E version (6 hours) and I'd love to see this one too. Please post if you know anything more!
I was going to post a thread for this one but I didn't get around to it. I want to see it too. I didn't see a trailer or TV spots for it, but it sounds good. I will definitely check it out sometime, most likely on video, because it probably won't come near me.

The little synopsis I got from the FFCS said that it was a modernization, which is obvious from the poster. Elizabeth is a college student, apparently, not willing to commit to a serious relationship just yet.
I'm curious to see how it modernized, but I've also heard REALLY positive buzz about it. I'm ticked it's not showing around here. We do have a local arthouse theater, but they skip a lot of British and fringey-type films. They never did run Nicholas Nickleby.
*sigh*

Wow never thought Id say this but I havent heard anything about it. When it coming out? Anybody well-known directing it?
Here's some info:
Plot:
Elizabeth Bennet is a hard-working college student and aspiring novelist who is determined to ignore the frenzied dating scene in her town, a challenging task considering she lives with 4 other girls, equally determined to find Mr. Right. There’s Lydia, the boy-crazy, puppy-toting debutante; Lydia’s drill team obsessed sister Kitty; Mary, the 50-year old matron stuck in a 23-year old body; and Jane, the sweetest and best friend Elizabeth could ever ask for. Then Elizabeth meets Wickham, a charming rascal, and Darcy, a sensible businessman, and her carefully constructed world flies to pieces. Will first impressions cloud Elizabeth’s judgment, or will she uncover their true intentions?
Release Date: December 5, 2003 (limited).
Distributor: Excel Entertainment
Starring: Kam Heskin, Orlando Seale, Lucila Sola, Kelly Stables, Nicole Hamilton
Directed by: Andrew Black
Rotten Tomatoes quotes:
"...So far the only LDS-themed comedy with "crossover" appeal."
-- Audrey Rock-Richardson, TOOELE TRANSCRIPT-BULLETIN (UTAH)
"Can Jane Austen adapt to Mormon Cinema? The answer... is a surprising yes."
-- Sean Means, SALT LAKE TRIBUNE
"A better way to combine the church and Jane Austen? Rent the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice and read the Book of Mormon during the slow bits."
-- Randy Cordova, ARIZONA REPUBLIC
Eeew, I didn't know this was a religious themed movie. I hate those. I didn't even think of the "latter days" remark under the title on the poster. Sadly, I'll probably still see this, yet I don't want to give them my money. Eeek.

I didn't like the book, I don't care about this.
Looks alright, I saw a trailer online, and it looks alright, I'll rent.

Why isnt anybody talking about this/ Its one of the best film of the year. Its irreverant, surprisingly well-written, well-acted, and beautifully directed. It seems as if many good movies are dead quiet on this board.
See this movie today.
9/10

We are talking about the Keira Knightley version now, right?
That was strange, a totally different P+P board gets taken over...

It was so good, wasn't it?
We agree on a lot of movies this year. I saw this yesterday and loved it. Made the ugly mistake of not bringing a girl to see it with me but still, excellent date movie and excellent film as as a whole. It has a very clever script and it is just a very well done film. My expectations were not low from all the raving critics, but I was not disappointed. Highly Reccomended; 9/10.
And yes, chinton, I agree. The best films of the year are dead.
For example, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Weather Man, History of Violence, and of course, this one.

Yes exactly. And is The Weather Man really that good. Im just hvaing a hard tiem getitng myself to see that.
Also one thing that I was really impressed was some of the major steadicam tracking shots during the different balls. Whats neat is that they werent there to be showy but gave you a great idea of who the different the couples and storylines and dispensed a lot of exposition in a clever manner. Wonderfully done.
