From either cinema and / or TV, please name your personal favorite male / female English speaking or foreign language gangster / mobster characters depicted so far and why, for any picks.
My two are :
Furio Giunta (The Sopranos). No one’s more cold about his killing. He doesn't shout and threaten ; he just does. He’s a killing machine and what’s wanted if exhortion is your business. What impresses is this completely emotionless killing mode he goes into.
Marcellus Wallace (Pulp Fiction), because of his mannerisms, dialect, virility, coolness, ruthlessness. The portrayal by Ving Rhames is one of cinema history’s greatest performances

I'll have to say Samuel L. Jackson's character Jules from Pulp Fiction. I'm also partial to Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs and Tony Montana from Scarface.

I'll do television first since that is easier for me:
male characters on a tv show:
Fox Mulder, The X-Files
Thomas Veil, Nowhere Man
Jack Bauer, 24
Capt. Jean Luc Picard, Star Trek: The Next Generation
Female:
Dana Scully, The X-Files
Nina Myers, 24
Sydney Bristow, Alias
Joey Potter, Dawson's Creek
For movies:
Penny Lane, Almost Famous
William Miller, Almost Famous
Indiana Jones, The Indiana Jones movies
Hannibal Lechter, The Silence of the Lambs
Clarice Starling, The Silence of the Lambs
Forrest Gump, Forrest Gump
I'll think of more later.

Furio!!!! This dude is the best. I love when he hands Tony the toilet paper in his dream during Season 2's finale! Cracks me up hard!
Okay, I'm done.

Definitely Furio, Christopher and Tony from The Sopranos.
And you can't help but love De Niro in Goodfellas and the short but sweet role for Jimmy Two Times. Heroes!!!

All those gangsters of course, but add...
The Corleone family (Brando/DeNiro, Pacino, Caan, Duvall), THE GODFATHER
Al Capone (Robert DeNiro), THE UNTOUCHABLES
All the gangsters from GOODFELLAS
The gangsters (especially Pacino, Madsen) from DONNIE BRASCO
Now that's what I'm talkin' about.
