I know that at the moment the option for signatures in our posts is off, but how about we limit the signatures to a limited character amount or no graphics in our signatures? I would really like to have a signature in my posts.

It might be a hassle, but I don't think they're needed. If you've got interesting things to say, your signature won't matter, and if your signature is the most interesting thing about your posts...well, I won't go there.

I think Jo has signatures disabled because he WANTS them disabled. Which is really the only reason that matters.

If you had sigs you'd just get some yahoo who had written the lyrics to every britney spears song ever in their sig (someone actually did that on the old dccomics.com boards) or does a similar sig that takes about a minute to scroll down and gets annoying after about 0.2 seconds.

I suppose if Jo were to implement Signatures he could probably put a limit on the # of characters or image sizes.

I guess it really wouldnt be too bad if people had one line of script beneath their post.

But to be honest, it doesnt matter to me one way or the other.

I think if they're restricted in size, they can add a bit of interest to posts..schmoes can express themselves a little more :)

After all, that's why we have avatars isn't it?

I agree though, if sigs are huge it just gets stupid. I'd say no images either.

I don't think we should. They just take up space and are annoying once you read them once. Plus it makes message boards look sloppy, in my opinion.

They are perfectly fine if they are used the right way! Like a size limit and file size limit. Just like Avatars, Sigs add somewhat of a face to the names. Showing personality and charactoristics(sp?) of a person. This could really work! Our avatars are limited by sizes so why not do the same for sigs? Or allow only a graphic banner thing limited by its size. Joblo, and Arrow get in on this please, I'd like to know what you think here. Hell, I'll help ya set rules if you'd like. Tell me I make a strong defence!

Some rules like this could work right?

The signature can have maximum dimensions of 580 x 140 and 60kb in size.
You may have one line of text with your sig placed directly under your sig.
When using text only as a sig, you can have a maximum of 5 lines.
NO nudity, racism, religion or anything offensive on your sig,
this will result in immediate deletion of your sig and a possible ban.
Linking your sig to a site is not allowed.
NO advertising on your sig.
English only.

But the point is, it doesn't. Seeing the seem piece of text repeated x-hundred times isn't going to tell me anything new on a person. Say if someone puts in a movie or a song quote...what does that tell me about the person beyond the fact that they like that movie/song?

But imagine if everyone in a thread used a sig. Its going to increase the time it takes the page to load. Granted, thats not a problem for my broadband (:D <-----smug face), but for those with slower connections, its going to piss them right off.

We're here to discuss movies. Not spend all day scrolling past sigs. Even with a size limit, they'd still get annoying faster than me on a sugar binge. ;)

Yeah, I don't really like the signatures. I've seen other forums where they have them, and they're kind of redundant to read. (plus some people use pictures for signatures, and that gets annoying REAL fast). I'm happy with things as it is. At least our board (unlike others) isn't overrun by petty arguments and pointless topics...

I'm neutral on Signatures. I dont really care if we have them or not, I just like playing around with thing! :p I will however second the rest of your post, This is by far the best forum I've been lucky enough to be a part of! As well, I love both main sites-- Arrow In The Head, and Joblo's Movie Emporium. Keep up the great work you guys! ;)
