The reds on that poster are burning my eyes.

But yeah, looks like a really good artsy-fartsy film. Will see, if it comes within 30 miles of here.

Very slow, very deliberate, and very quiet...but, for the kind of film it strives to be, it does so with very little issue. The acting is superb, and in a Jane Eyre-esque fashion, is very intriguing. The energy between Firth and Johansson is tops. Very cool, all around.

7.5/10

As someone from Holland - who's getting more into art as well - I'm curious to see how they've portrayed the enviroment in that time, plus Scarlett Johansson is always a plus. Definitely seeing this.

I'm not sure if I'll like this or not, but I'm sure to give it a whirl sooner or later. Scarlett Johansson is certainly a plus.

I studied Vermeer and his work in Art History class, and his life seemed pretty interesting. I may check this out if it comes to an art-house theatre around here. I thought his most significant painting was Portrait of a Young Woman, but I guess that doesn't sound like a very catchy title for a movie.

Looks really really good. What a year for Johansson!

Beautifully shot and as a Dutchman I was glad how historically accurate everything looked. The chemistry between Firth and Johansson was quite sensual, and the latter gave an excellent performance (possibly even better than in LOST IN TRANSLATION).

Some of the supporting characters were a little too one dimensional/despicable for my taste and I found it kinda weird how everybody spoke with British accents, but overall it was a good film.

Anyone else seen this yet? Hasn't even got a RELEASE date for Australia. Bastards.

I'm really not into period pieces (other than Ginger Snaps ;)), and this one doesn't interest me at all. I can't even picture renting it on video. It's funny though that if this had Anna Faris in it, it would be one of my most anticipated movies ;).

Watch LOST IN TRANSLATION and then tell me that Anna Faris is better than Scarlett Johansson.

If Anna Faris had starred in Girl With A Pearl Earring, it would've been a radically different (and far lesser) film. Scarlett Johansson was awesome in this; it's her second great performance this year.

Got a copyright pending on a true* story about a woman who has a phobia of being splattered on the face, so she turns her head at the last second. Same title. It'll be shot like a documentary to give it a classy, analytical sytle. If she overcomes her phobia, there's a sequel in the offing; Girl With A Pearl Necklace, And Matching Earrings.

I'm not really into period pieces but i ended up really liking this movie. It's slow moving but always interesting and intriguing, with the sets and cinematography always pleasing the eye. The acting is solid with Johannson being the stand-out. Personally, I loved the score and thought it served the film greatly, it really set a good mood for the movie.

Surprisingly good 8/10

Watched this last night...and even though the film looked beautiful..the sets the cinematography and everything was top notch...but the story was to uneventful. This movie was waaaay too slow.

Normally I dont mind slow movies, I loved Lost in Translation! But on this one nothing really important happens at all. Its almost as if this story didnt warrant a movie being made out of it.

And Johansen doesnt even speak through out most of the film, I dont know, I was a tad dissapointed with this one, though I did think it looked beautiful, and some scenes even looked like pictures themselves....the story didnt move me in the least.

And the characters? So unlikable! All of them. Well, except Cyllian Murphys character, but he appears for like five minutes on the film.
