The Big Hit. Did'nt make sense, action scenes sucked. Not enough T&A to justify watching it. Left me feeling like I'd just gotten a prostate exam (not a good thing). I basically just sat back and watched in horror. Marky Mark would also probably be high up there on my worst actor list. This movie left me with the feeling like I had just had sex with my sister (again, not a good thing. I'm from Texas not...well maybe I should'nt bring other states into this).

Eye of the Beholder

Boring, No sense, Boring, No plot, Boring, I wanted to kill my self.....seriously, Boring.

Honestly, this is the one and only movie that made me want to burn the entire earth. I just cant stand it. The plot made no sense whatsoever. It was just stupid.

1. Eye of the Beholder
2. Drowning Mona
3. The Winslow Boy
4. A Time to Kill
5. The Waterboy
6. Simon birch
7. On Our Own

What was your problem with The Winslow Boy? And Time To Kill had a few problems with iut but I certainly thought it was good, and one of the few high-grossers to deal with the race problem. Simon Birch had it's moments(like the ones where Ashley Judd was onscreen /ubb/smile.gif), the rest: agreed.

Ah, I bet you thought I was going to say "The Haunting" (99) didn't you? Well only one flick comes to mind worse than that piece of shit.... "Knock-Off" starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Rob Schneider. The imdb plot outline:
"Action star Jean Claude Van Damme plays a fashion designer who must join forces with a C.I.A. agent to combat terrorism."

I would have rather watched a film directed by the Coen Brothers starring Nicholas Cage and Anne Heche that was a two hour long discussion concerning persistent feminine hygeine problems accompanied by a Barbara Streisand soundtrack while sitting next to a grossly overweight man who had just consumed four bowls of extra spicy chili.

Just as an aside, the phrase "worse than Hitlor" is'nt something I toss around too lightly, but I do believe it applies to The Big Hit.

That is Hitler, and very few things are worse than Hitler, that isn't funny, okay? My most hated movie would have to be Contact followed closely by Fallen.

QUENTIN
09-09-2000, 11:56 AM
Contact used to be for 2 1/2 years my all time worst film. When I saw it in theaters I thought it was boring as hell, pretty stupid, and to quote Mr.Garrison "you wait like 2 /12 hours just to find out the alien is her goddamn father." But most lovd it so I tried giving it one more chance and with 'stop' button in hand the whole way I watched it again...and liked it a lot?. Besides sme of the earlier scenes, and the David Morse as the alien part Contact was a pretty damn god flick. And it actually went from number one on worst ever to an honorable mention for 1997. If you hated it try giving it another shot it actually is a very good film.

Also no film is worse than Hitler..not even The Waterboy and Dead-Alive put together.

(shudder) Contact (shudder) Wow that one was a stinker as far as I'm concerned. Watching it again would be like burning yourself on a hot stove, contemplating what just happened, then slapping your hand down on the burner again. No thanks.

retardinAZ- Why did you dislike "Fallen" so much? I found it incredibly fun and disturbing. "Ti-iiii-ime is on your side. Yes, it is..."

Ok guys, it seems some of us needs a lesson in hyperbole. On one hand, we have a movie, the other we have a guy who argurably caused the deaths of alot of people. Now did you guys seriously think that I was literal in saying that a film was worse than Hitler? I'm not a smart man, but I don't think I would *literaly* mean that this movie was worse, on the grand moral scale of things, than Hitler. It was an exaggeration! Surely you guys knew that and just posted your comments on my comments because you guys just wanted to make the standerd, "Hitler is bad" statement, insted of the "Parchai is bad because he is joking about Hitler" statement. Who really won the war when we can't even make fun of Hitler now a days? Or maybe I should go to all your posts and point out everything morally wrong with what you guys say. Sorry it seems like I'm angry but I really hate it when people try to take the moral highground on me. Otherwise, you guys have pretty intelligent posts, just learn to not take things so seriously next time. Once again, let me get off my soapbox because I should'nt be taking this so seriously either. /ubb/smile.gif

I gerenerally dislike hate very few movies... I like quite a few of the films that people have mentioned in here:

The big hit 6/10 (An ok film with some funny lines and pretty good action)

Knock Off 6,5/10 (Come on, it was funny and had good action! The best film of Van Damme along with Hard Target)

Truman show 8/10 (This was one of the best films of 1998...)

Contact 7,5/10 (The ending is very clever and smartly handled. It was not really about aliens but about the relation between science and religion. About what we believe in and why. Those are very big issues and I appreciate the film for dealing with them in an intelligent manner. And of course it was very well made all around.)

Here are some extremely bad films:

Mortal Combat
Showgirls
Judge Dredd
Dobermann

Some of those films had superb visuals but they were all so extremely dull and badly written, that it was painful to sit through them.

Howdy
I liked Mortal Kombat (although Annihilation sucked - I'm not THAT weird) - I thought the fight scenes were also good, especially for an american-ish film. The acting wasn't that bad either...
Oh and all the plot was doing was being truthful to the game's plot (or they just couldn't be bothered to think of a slighty more original one, I haven't figured it out yet!) /ubb/smile.gif

Winslow Boy was horrible. I had read good reviews about it on Amazon.com but when my mom and i sat down to watch it we were both very dissapointed. It was just so boring. No one really cares. The acting was really bad except for the dad's acting. The story was horrible like the screenplay. All in all, the second most boring movie. it just hurt me to watch. Afterwards I just blurted out "Was it me or was that scarily boring?"
Everyone in my family agreed with me. The story never seemed to get going and once it did it seemed to get interrupted by some stupid kind of dialouge.

A Time to Kill. Ah yes. One of the biggest mistakes in the movie buiseness. i do know why it sucked so much. i was reading the book at the time I saw the movie. The movie screwed up so many things it was astounding. First of all they screwed up the murder, the trial, the Sandra Bullock meet, the riots, the end, man, there's just too many IMPORTANT parts that they just left out. It's like they tried to smush the thing in a little film that had good acting. The acting was good i must admit. However the movie was amazingly poor. The left out occurences were almost vital to the story. WHY DO YU THINK THAT THE BOOK WAS SO WELL LOVED AND THE MOVIE was not? I'll tell you people why, the above statements.

Wow I totally forgot about Contact. That is a really bad bad bad movie. Bored me to tears. What a horrible movie. I mean, the plot was good the screenplay was definitely not. here's the new list:

1. Eye of the Beholder
2. The Winslow Boy
3. Drowning mona
4. On Our Own
5. Simon Birch
6. The Waterboy
7. Contact
8. A Time to Kill

Simon Birch was just, um,..........NO. NO.NO. It was surprisingly bad. I thought that it would have been good. But once again comes the book interference. See it was first based on the fantastic book called A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY (quite possibly the greatest book ever written). Now this movie was worse than A Time to kill because they just missed out on the best parts of the book. Man, you know, i don't even want to talk about it. it just hurts to think about Simon Birch.
You know, Even if you did like Simon Birch, please do the earth a favor and read A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY by: JOHN IRVING. That is the best book. It is just astounding. Once you finish reading it you'll thank me. And you will also realize how bad Simon Birch was. Man, I really want to read that book right now. PLEASE read it. You'll love it. I guarantee it. /ubb/biggrin.gif

Tuukka-- good action in "Knock-Off"???????? There were often explosions where the people would jump in random directions (as being hit by a blast) five seconds before the explosion. One of the big action scenes featured a skateboard. There's more action in an episode of "The Golden Girls" than there was in that piece of dreck.

I admit that the film was cheesy -And so were many action scenes. I tend to like the campy hongkong action films and Knock Off was a pretty typical hongkong actioner. I don't know if it was financed by the local money but people behind the camera were nearly all hongkong action veterans. And the film had HORSELOADS of action. I mean how many action scenes there were? Ten? Fifteen? I like the tongue in cheek, "Anything goes" attitude of the action in Knock Off. But if you are totally objective and criticize it as "art", it is a seriously flawed film in many ways. I just love 'em Hongkong movies.

The Winslow Boy belongs on the under rated lists. It had a very well constructed plot and some great performances. I mean there are so much more god awful trite out there than this modest period piece.

Here are a couple that should have been left on the cutting room floor:

.1 Universal Soldier (Van Damme and Lundgren...HELP!)
.2 Caught Up
.3 Kiss the Girls (The always unreliable Ashley Judd)
.4 Can't Hardly Wait

While screamer581 is eating his "Mystic Pizza" in the garden next to his "Steel Magnolias", I just wanted to say that the only decent Robert's film ever made was "Sleeping With The Enemy"...and the only thing that made it worthwhile was Patrick Bergin and Kevin Anderson...

"Kiss The Girls" was much better than Judd's other films and besides, Morgan Freeman makes the film as the super-cool Doctor Detective Alex Cross from the novels by James Patterson...anybody who has read the books, "Kiss The Girls", "Along Came The Spider", "Jack & Jill" & "Pop Goes The Weasel" knows that Freeman is the perfect man for the job...as far as "Kiss The Girls" goes, I could have done without Cary "The Crush" Elwes as the killer...that is about as stupid as having Keanu Reeves play a serial killer...what a dumb fucking idea...

A friend of mine wanted to watch "Bowfinger", so we got it out on video and watched it at his house.
I don't know whether I missed something but I didn't stay for the end. I said I had to home and feed the dog. Was I wrong? Should I have stayed and watched it till the end. Heather Graham just started doing my head in in the end.
That reminds me - have any of you seen Dennis Pennis in action? I saw him ask a Steve Martin a question. He said "How come you're not funny anymore?" Steve Martin looked really offended and walked away. Maybe Dennis was onto something. Maybe Steve Martin has lost it. Maybe he lost it ages ago...
Anyway. Bowfinger sucked.

Contact-
Bad things: Plot, ENDING!!!, dialogue, acting(I don't like Jodie Foster, at all!), script, characters.
Good things: Can't think of any, can you?

Fallen-
Bad things: ENDING!!!, dialogue, confusing plot.
Good things: Decent acting, John Goodman, Denzel, inventive plot, just too confusing though. I pretty much only hate this movie, though, because of the ending. The rest of the movie is decent, but it leads up to a stinker ending.

Screw Loose-
Bad things: plot, dialogue, sound problems(people say things but mouth something different), HORRIBLE ACTING!
Good things: It is a Mel Brooks film, so I could say that is a good thing, but it is the worst Mel Brooks movie ever.

Ratings:
Contact-0.5/10
Fallen-3.5/10
Screw Loose-0/10

Julia Roberts?????????

She is the best actress in Hollywood in my opinion. She can act and her movies are all entertaining. She has only made 2 bad film, Ready To Wear and Michael Collins.

Erin Brockovich is the years best thus far and the Best Actress Oscar should be hers this year.

Julias flicks:

Steel Magnolias-7/10
Mystic Pizza-8.5/10
Flatliners-6.5/10
Pretty Woman-9/10
Dying Young-6/10
Sleeping With The Enemy-8/10
Michael Collins-3/10

I Love Trouble-7/10
Ready To Wear-1.5/10
My Best Friends Wedding-7/10
Mary Reilly-6.5/10
Conspiracy Theory-5.5/10
Notting Hill-9.5/10

Erin Brockovich-10/10

Actually, last night I was strangely compelled to watch "Sleeping With The Enemy" because of the Bergin-factor and found her "battered woman" routine very tiresome...I did laugh rather heartily at the part where she dresses up as a man with a bad wig and cheesy mustache...I was thinking is that Hilary Swank/Brandon Teena's prettier cousin? The whole Anderson romance really threw me off...but it was worth it to see Bergin as a Julia-beater, and now I know where the idea came from for "Double Jeopardy"...

If I find chicken than I will have his head. Pulp Fiction is one of the best movies ever made. To call it anything less great is a crime and you should be shot. And the worst movie ever has been so carelessly overlooked. It would have to be either Waiting for Guffman or the big enchilada...2001; A space odyssey. This movie is such crap. This movie blows!!! It is the worst piece of crap to ever hit the big screen. I sat and watched this monstrosity for 2 and a half hours for what can only be described as the worst movie ending in the history of time. I was so close to stabbing myself in the neck with a very very dull spoon(not that there are sharp spoons). It was a pointless crap fest that should go down in the guiness book of world records as the one movie to cause over 10 million suicides. It has to be the cause for most. I mean...c'mon! If they even think of any re-releasing of this movie, I will be forced to start rioting and blowing shit up.Let's see...he pulls up to jupiter, and then what the fuck?!?!?!? He is in a messed up room with about 50 years tacked on to him and a messed up piece of shit rock hanging in front of him. Excuse me, art? It's complete and utter shit. It was thrown together for an early release because they proud of the effects. That's all. You have once again been dooped by hollywood. Tell me, how does it feel to once again be fucked in the ass by a shit movie. The baby is the most messed up part! It makes no sense. It's a bunch of blathering bullshit. I wish people would understand that they are artsy and a bunch of hippies. It makes no sense. It was soooooo damn long and slow. The effects were outstanding for the 60's but there is a limit and they just jump skipped and took a bus as far away from that limit as possible. Fuck you and fuck this movie. And I also hate to see good ol' stanley's name on this work of trash.

Agreed on Pulp Fiction it is my favorite movie, but hey everyone has there own tastes and we can let them be wrong /ubb/wink.gif I mean shit even PackBacker hates PF and he is certainly not an idiot. As for 2001 I think it is the 2nd greatest anbd my 4th favorite film of all time, and it has THE greatest ending, and in fact greatest scene of all time in the Star Child which you apprently hate. Also SDM do you have any other thoughts on the movie, because you are repeating youself you had the exact same complaint (literally most of that is word-for-word) any other thoughts or just that one that you want to say as much as possible?

I have 8 words for you...Monkeys beating the ground for a half hour. Maybe it is me, but when you come across a movie like this you can't respect other opinions. It is sooooooo bad that you have to wonder why you watched it in the first place. What drove me to see this movie? Was it that I wanted to see a mundane and dragging film that could have used a little caffine or a nice kick in the nuts? I don't know. Besides, how many words were actually spoken during this movie. It had like nonexistent dialogue. They spoke every 15 minutes and in 3 word sentences. Get real here folks. This movie was made souly for effects and that is so bluntly obvious. You ask yourself how? Well, it had no plot. Well, it had a plot but it sucked a fat one. And the ending could have been presented in another way. Possibly one that didn't invoke suicide upon the masses.

I've seen a few films that are 100%irrelevant to any mental or emotional living being that has the power of choice. Cobra is among the worst two hours of the twentith century. Watching Leprechaun through Leprechaun in the Hood has taken the place of Caning in the Phillipines. The Substitute had me longing for the technical wizardry of The Gong Show. But the worst thing you can do for your sanity is watch The Island of Dr. Moreau and reflect upon it ever again. There was better planning for the Zapruder film that lasted 6 seconds.
