After doing a little search on that fandangled deal, I found we have no thread for the talented Meryl Streep. She's arguably the greatest actress ever, and she's definitley the best actress currently working. Never disappointed from her, she can make the crappiest movies good. Excellent in The Deer Hunter, Silkwood, Out of Africa, Kramer vs Kramer and Sophie's Choice.

To tell you the truth, she didn't really impress me in neither Adaptation nor The Hours....

But, she gets a humongous YAY from me. When an actress is so diverse and so into her work, being able to convey all the right details and emotions of the characters she plays.....that's real acting. The likes of Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Ingrid Bergman are all among those lines; Meryl is too. Comedy, drama, suspense, action.....the gal can do ANYTHING and plays her parts so well too, with great depth and emotion, what a talented actress! :)

I can't say any better than Hannibal did. Just have to say that she's my favorite actress. One of those few actresses who's made it into films not because of the looks, but because of the perfect acting abilities.

Meryl Streep is the greatest actress. The range of emotion and depth this woman portrays is nothing short of breathtaking. She comes off so natural and real, which never lets you think that she is only "acting". No matter what the role - drama, comedy, action, even musical - she's flawless. "Sophie's Choice" is arguably the greatest performance by an actress, and Meryl deserved that Oscar wholeheartedly. This woman made it with talent, not breasts and a supermodel face. The way she lives her life separate from the media, while having down-to-earth, easy-going way of life with a great sense of humour should be noted as well.

Beautiful, classy, and never a disappointment. A definite YAY.

Meryl has done it all! I have enjoyed, 99.9% of the movies she has done. Just the one movie that was just f'd up was Adapation. But I am not gonna go there w/ them details. ;)

In the acting department the greatest living actress, she doesn't just play the charcter she becomes the character, she's so different in looks and especially nailing the different dialects - my favorites are Bridges of Madison County, Cry In The Dark, Deerhunter, French Lieutenant's Woman, Out Of Africa and Sophie's Choice.
