With 2003 drawing to a close, I thought I'd post this idea I had for the upcoming year.
Even the biggest movie buff has a whole bunch of movies they know they should have seen by now, but for some reason, just haven't got around to seeing yet. I was thinking it would be cool if we had a thread where schmoes could post a list of 52 films they vow to see before 2004 is over. I know 52 doesn't seem like too many for some people, but keep in mind that obviously you're going to want to watch films outside of this list, as well as new films in theatres.
The idea is that if we made a list and posted it, we'd finally get around to seeing these films, with the help of our own little "schmoe support group". With the encouragement of other schmoes, we'd watch all 52 films, and at the end of the year, we'd feel proud of our great accomplishments. Those who fail will be belittled and shunned from the schmoe community.
In case I'm overselling the whole thing, I know that watching movies isn't that difficult, so the whole "schmoe support group" thing is a bit over the top, but even so, I think it would be a fun goal for us to set for ourselves. To detail our progress, we could post thoughts and mini-reviews in this thread for each film we watch.
If there's another thread like this already, I apologize. I know there's a "what movies did everyone watch today?" thread, but it's not really the same thing, as in this thread we'd be watching these films based on the list, rather than just what we felt like watching that day. Also, this thread wouldn't contain thoughts about every movie we watch - only the ones on the list.
If anyone's interested, just let me know. If enough people want to participate, I could open another thread in this forum, where everyone could post their lists.
