View Full Version : What Trailers Did You See Lately?

Not sure if this sort of thread has been done before, but figured I'd give it a whirl.
Since we all go to the movies fairly often, we're subjected to numerous amounts of trailers, for better or worse.
Today before "In America", I saw the trailers:
The Dreamers:
http://www.cinemovies.fr/fiche_multimedia.php?IDfilm=2602
Fog Of War:
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0317910/trailers-screenplay-E18783-10-2
The Dreamers looks like a very interesting character study, and one I want to see very badly. I must say that I am very impressed with what Michael Pitt has done with his career, especially since I first saw him as a guest star on Dawson's Creek. The Fog Of War looks like an interesting documentary, but not my cup of tea. I know the story behind Robert McNamara and it seems like a movie about him is more likely to piss me off than titilate me.
Which trailers have you seen recently and which appeal to you?

Last Wednesday when I saw LOTR: ROTK I saw the trailers for:
The Chronicles of Riddick
The Butterfly Effect
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
The mask 2
I, Robot
That's all I can remember but I'm sure there was one more but I can't remember. Riddick, Harry Potter and Butterfly Effect all look good but I hated the teasers for mask 2 and I, Robot.

The trailers before the film I saw today, In America, were...
The Company
House of Sand and Fog
Big Fish
I had already seen all three of them before.

Lately I've spent a looong time watching trailers...
The Village (Typical Shyamalan trailer - great)
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (Fun)
Garfield (Ugh... too bad cause I love that bastard cat)
Aliens vs. Predator (Doesn't show shit but still good)
The Mask 2 (Is this really necessary?)
Hellboy (Awesome)
Man On Fire (Awesome)
I, Robot (The sole fact that it's from Alex Proyas means I'm there)

Well I saw LOTR: ROTK again today with my family and it had the following trailers:
The Mask 2 (ugh! !)
The Chronicles of Riddick
Spider-Man 2
Hildago (it looks decent but I'm not terribly excited to see it)
The Butterfly Effect (who would've thunk? Ashton Kutchor in a movie that actually looks really good?)

Why don't you just download Quicktime? It's not that it costs anything, or it's a big archive or something.
I've seen pretty much all the trailers available on the net, so I can't really list them now.
BEST: King Arthur, The Village, Sky Captain, Blueberry.
WORST: The Mask 2, Teacher's Pet.

I saw the teaser for The Day After Tomorrow yesterday, it was the only one I hadn't seen before. Has anyone else seen this trailer? I thought it looked interesting because I tend to have a soft spot for disaster movies like this...

Exactly what I was going to say. I saw Cheaper by the Dozen today, and all of the previews sucked. As I was standing out in the lobby, I was watching the big tv my theater has that shows trailers and I saw the trailer for this. It looks amazing. I love big-budget epic disaster movies and cant wait for this one. Tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, tidal waves, a new ice age blanketing NYC? I am soooo there.
I'd like to see the trailer again, but the only one I found was Quicktime. Are there any MediaPlayer ones out?
Also, are there any places where I can view pictures from the movie, or a poster for the movie? On the official website I got a background for my computer that is the main page, NYC covered in ice and snow drifts with the words "Where will you be?" across it. It looks great as a desktop, but I'd like to see what else is out there.

Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London
Shrek 2: :D (Already seen this one, so it isnt including in the ones that I meantioned earlier 'sucked' because it looks good)
Along Came Polly:  (Again, already seen this and will be seeing it once it hits theaters)
Garfield:  (Some of it looked good, some of it quite bad)
While I stood in the Lobby:
50 First Dates:  (Cant wait, Love Sandler)
Alien vs. Predator: :D (Again, cant wait, looks awesome)
The Day After Tommorow:  (Looks freakin awesome as hell!)

I was still laughing at the Butterfly Effect joke when The Mask 2 trailer cme on. Then I cried. A lot.
Hellboy looks kick ass though. I heard some poeple saying it looked like Del Toro was going Hollywood with it, but seeing Perlman in that makeup and growling made me smile through the tears.
Damn you Mask 2, and Ashton...die. Please.

Today i downloaded these trailers:
Undead - cool, but cheesy. Can be a cult classic
Catch that Kid - good for kids, but i'm no longer one
Girl with a Pearl Earring - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, maybe the film is good, but the trailer is awful
Scooby Doo 2 - looks like the cartoon. Don't know if that's saying a good thing nowadays, with 24 years...
Win a date with Tad Hamilton - the idea can make a good movie, but this doesn't look like it's going to give good use to it. Too typical and sugarcoated...
50 first dates - if it wasn't for Sandler and Barrymore, both of which suck, i'd maybe see this film

Before 21 Grams:
Monster -trailer was pretty good, but not exceptional. The reason I'm dying to see it is because of the reviews and particularly Ebert's glowing praise and Theron's transformation, not the preview.
Aileen: Life and Death of A Serial Killer -If I love Monster, I'll likely see this. Broomfeld has yet to let me down.
Greendale -I like Neil Young more or less, but don't think he's a genius and sometimes he has big missteps (Dead Man score). Looks like it could be a major hit or miss.
Before One From The Heart:
The Same River Twice -An interesting concept, I'd like to check it out.
The Fog of War -As always with Errol, it looks fascinating. I'll see anything by Morris.

Let me just say this is the most suave trailer I have seen in a long time. The teaser oozes with style!

Before 21 Grams:
Spartan - A great cast, and an extremely talented writer/director... the trailer was very cool, and I'm sure the dialouge will be great...
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Looks totally awesome; I love the look, feel, the song, the premise, and the cast...
Those are the two that made an impact...

With 21 GRAMS:
VERONICA GUERIN; I'm not entirely sure wether to see this or not. Joel Schumacher works well when he's working with a smaller budget (Tigerland,Phone Booth) and it looks like it could be interesting, so I don't know. It's not a must see and I won't be upset if I miss it.
With THE LAST SAMURAI:
ALONG CAME POLLY; Despite Ben Stiller annoying me, I'm not really sure why, I still want to see this. I was happy to see JoBlo's positive review and with Alec Baldwin, Hank Azaria, Debra Messing, Phullip Seymour Hoffman and cutie Jennifer Aniston this can't fail.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST; Absolute must see, if not for anything but for all the controversy it's created. But it looks like it will be a stunning film.
BIG FISH; Another film i'm not sure I want to see or not. It has been getting good reviews, Award nominations and has an appealing cast. I won't be upset if I miss it at the cinemas, but I may give it a go. I'll see what the critics think down here.
TROY; Another must see. Has everything good going for it.

Rating some random trailers... these raiting are for trailer only and independant of movie ratings. (Hence Troy tops the list while I want to see Helsing much more). In order:
Troy- 10/10 (the ship battle shot blew my socks off)
Butterfly Effect- 9/10 (Kutcher may actually have some talent)
Van Helsing- 9/10 (Jackman=God. Film=Must see.)
Miracle- 8/10 (I pray it's good, I'd like to see this)
Passion 'o the Big C- 8/10 (epic? yes. good? who knows?)
Along Came Polly- 7/10 (mildly funny, generic film)
Torque- 7/10 (Prolly bad movie , but this is a faily done trailer)
Hellboy- 6/10 (too caught between the modern day and trying to seem retro)
Cold Mountain- 3/10 (Kuhm baik tuh may... Kuhm baik tuh may...)
...Tad Hamiltion- 2/10 (bad trailer for a potentially worse movie)

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind-
IMO possibley the greatest trailer of all time, its just amazing and I will be there the day it opens..............That morning.
Jersey Girl-
I am glad if it PG-13, I think it will be good for Smith to try somthing different then "Dick and Fart Jokes" It will be more Drama, and the trailer looks great and I cant wait to see it.

The Alamo 8/10
The Punisher 8/10
Stasky and Hutch 8/10
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton:
13 Going on 30 8/10 (why do so many people seem to think this looks bad? I personally found the trailer to be hilarious! Jennifer Garner just looks adorable in this part judging from the trailer, it looks like a great part for her! :) )
Catch That Kid 4/10 (looks like a lame Spy Kids wanabe!)

Seen the Kill Bill Vol. 2 teaser for the 2nd time and It's extremely dissapointing. The cruddy dialogue and the way Uma presents it in that grating, sarcastic way. She looks like a pervey old fogey trying to woo a young 'un into bed.
And that ;) at the end...Taking the piss a bit! Sorry Kill Bill Vol. 2's atempt at a teaser, you are the weakest link...Goodbye.

Kill Bill Vol. II (okay, but too self indulgent on QT's part, but still good)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (the teaser was better, but it still hit the spot in my mind)
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (Good god. Does anyone else on earth really get sick of these ex- Nick/Disney Channel stars making stupidly unrealistic movies about the horrors of high school and the "popular group")

Still the teaser only had about 4 seconds of actual film footage. Which is okay from the no-spoilers point of view. But the trailer was just Uma telling us what we alraeady know, and giving us NO official release date except SPRING. Yes, it suposedly is in April, but QT changed it after 5 months of his Febuary 20Th relese date.

KILL BILL VOL 2 - Not a big fan of the trailer. Still can't wait for the movie though!

You've gotta love the cinematography for the new Dawn of the Dead film, particularly that night shot of the bright city. Great filmmaking.

When I saw The Girl Next Door they showed the trailers for:
Club Dread - looks pretty amusing
and some movie I can't remember the title but it stars Cedric the Entertainer as a father of a family that is going on a vacation and Vanessa L. Williams plays the mother and Bow wow is one of their children. Anyway, it looked pretty funny to me so I'll go check it out when it comes out in February.

With CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN...
MEAN GIRLS - Looks like a very clever and funny teen flick. I'll be seeing this.
RAISING HELEN - Looks mediocre at best. Kate Hudson would be the only thing that makes me want to see this flick.
NEW YORK MINUTE - Looks strange. I can't really tell what it is about from this trailer.
GARFIELD - I think that this teaser is funny and I will be seeing the movie.
AGENT CODY BANKS 2 - Looks stupid and a lot worse than the decent original.
With STARSKY & HUTCH...
TAKING LIVES - New trailer this time. It featured some new scenes and added Gena Rowlands and one other French guy (not Olivier Martinez) to the cast list. I think this looks good and will be seeing it.
THE WHOLE TEN YARDS - Looks like the next Analyze That. Very unfunny trailer. Probably will rent on video.
ENVY - Looks funny, and I love the cast. I will be seeing this.
