This is made for anything really. Books, cartoons,TV shows, plays anything you want to be made into a movie. I thought it would be better to put it all together. So what would I want to be made into a movie.
Making Fiends
A great internet cartoon. If you had someone like Tim Burton or something make this it would be great. It reminds me of the movie Matilda except this would be better. You can watch the series at www.makingfiends.com
The Narnia Series
I'm sure this was already made into a movie but still it needs to be redone right. The books are great and I would love to see them make another movie about it.
There are many more but those are the main ones I would want right now. So what would you want?

Books:
Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series (I'm about 3/4 of the way through the first one, and it is GREAT)
Video Games:
Final Fantasy series (yes, there was already a Final Fantasy movie, but - well, this thread (http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66308) has my feelings on it written in it - I'd like to see an FF movie done right)
Metal Gear Solid (man, that would so fucking rock)
TV Shows:
The Simpsons (If shitfest shows like Scooby Doo can be made into movies, surely good shows like this should be able to)

2 wonderful games that would make great movies along with a book series-
Metal Gear Solid- This could be the ultimate in coolness if its done even half as good as the games.
Castlevania- The uncoming Van Helsing looks to be the closest thing well ever see to this wonderful series.
Terry Brooks- The Shannara series
first king of shannara
the sword of shannara
the elfstones of shannara
the wishsong of shannara
the scions of shannara
the druid of shannara
the elfqueen of shannara
the talismans of shannara
The Isle Witch
Antrax
The Morgawr
jarka Ruus
-the last two in this set have yet to be released-
This is a long running series that spans years and many different heros and villians. It is in the same vien as LOTR and i view it on equal standing with the now classic series. They would make unbeleivalbe films if done properly.
The unforgettable characters like Garretjax the Weaponsmaster, The Worlock Lord, The Morgawr, Isle Witch, The Reaper, Allanan, Antrax, The King of the Silver River make (with so many more) make these books unforgettable and are among the best books ive ever read. MANY of these books are best sellers and rightfully so.
One of the books said it best on the back- " Here are valiant companions, awesome foes, wonders, and ancient mysterys as only Terry Brooks can bring us."
The sad part is, i usualy hate these type of films( or books) but these would be incredible movies and (i think) could rival anything out there.

Vigalante 8 - this was a drive and destroy PS1 game from 1998 and I love it to death. It's not likely it could be completely 100% translated on to film (yeah right, cars with thier own built-in special weapons and standard weapons...or could they?), I have a feeling that it with the same characters, vehicles, character backgrounds, and main storyline, it could be a pretty cool movie. It's not likely it would get excellent reviews from critics, but the fanboys, if there's anymore other than me, might love it. Is there anyone that feels the same way??

I'd like to see:
BOOKS:
Artemis Fowl (though it is too much like Harry Potter)
VIDEO GAMES:
Before I start, I hope this get made right. I fucking hate video game movies as it is.
Metal Gear Solid (the guys who made The Matrix passed on this one!)

BOOKS:
Anything by Connie Willis, but made by someone with talent, not the first young prick that come to the producer's mind. Remake would be great made by Scorsese. Not to Mention About the Dog, by Terry Gilliam or Tim Burton. Doomsday Book, by Peter Jackson or Peter Weir. Bellwether by David Fincher. Passage by Spielberg. And so on...
VIDEOGAMES:
Monkey Island saga, made by Tim Burton or Terry Gilliam. The closer I've seen is POTC.
Day of the Tentacle.
Duke Nukem.

THE WAR OF THE WORLDS
I know it's been done before, but I'm talking about an adaption that stays faithful to the book. It would be great to have it actually set in England at the beginning of the 20th century, with actual tripod fighting machines. If it's done well parts of the book like the destruction of Weybridge, and the evacuation of London, could be incredible.
Raoul Duke
12-26-2003, 11:39 AM
BOOKS:
Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk. This is just the kind of out there novel that would be best written to the screen by Charlie Kaufman. Then, hopefully, directed by Spike Jonze.
TV:
The Simpsons (hopefully this won't happen for a while.....Give them sometime to improve over their current slump of 'un-funnyness')
The Sopranos

It should be happening in 2005.
I still don't know about 'Catcher in the Rye'. It's the greatest book ever written, and I would feel a bit uneasy watching it. If they were to, I'd be very picky with it.

Frankly, what happens to all the Americans with this book? I read it like a year ago and didn't find it anything special. In fact, it was more a borefest. Not many things happen, characters weren't specially remarkable, narration was well done but far from the best ever... I don't know, sincerely.

Well, my thoughts are the exact opposite. To me, it just seemed so easy to relate to the main character, Holden. The book may not go anywhere, but it's more or less a human story. I doubt a few days of my life during the holidays wouldn't be anything great to read, but I bet people would be interested. Because it's simple and true. Just like 'Catcher in the Rye'. It's all a matter of opinion.

Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neal Gaimon)
ALL of Pratchett's Disc novels, but only as animated features done from the Josh Kirby artwork.
Melanie Rawn's Sunrunner series would make an ASTONISHING series or mini-series on the Sci Fi network.
Twelfth Night done well.

Oh, yeah. That's my number one wish for a SERIES of films (like 6 or 7) shot in a similar manner as LOTR, so there could be some continuity.
And of course, the Silmarillion and THE Hobbit, by JRR Tolkien, but only if done by Peter Jackson.

I remember watching the cartoon to that! From what i remember it was pretty good.
Well, Ive always wondered what Looney Tunes would look like using real animals. But i dont think it would work for most of it.
For Video Games, The Legend of Zelda, one that has extremely great potential, and probably the most out of any video games. But then again, i can see where it would fail.
A few Anime movies into live action like Akira (currently a script being developed for) and Vampire Hunter D (which Van Helsing, to me, looks likeit may be ripping Vamp Hunter D quite a bit).
A Sopranos movie would be a good way to end of the series when it finishes.

The problem is "Who should direct it?". The easy call is Peter Jackson, of course. But I think Gore Verbinski could be great as well.

Novel:
Pale Horse Coming by Stephen Hunter. A studio owns the right to one of the mains characters, so I don't know if the movie will ever get made. It's a phenomenal book that screams to be made into a movie. If properly made, I honestly believe that it would be the greatest action movie of all time. It's got everything you need. Rain Fall by Barry Eisler (a book about an assassin guy who lives in Japan - the book is so brilliant in my opinion because of its vivid descriptions of Japan and the atmosphere of the book is...amazing. I dunno if it was just me, but it sort of reminded me of Leon a little bit)...currently optioned by Jet Li - i'm a big fan but i dunno if he's the right guy for the part.
Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane (a book about two marshal guys who go to an island that has a psychiatric hospital on it to investigate the disappearance of a woman...and to investigate the rumors of brainwashing, etc that type of thing. REALLY creepy, and the ending can be guessed earlier but it's still another entry in the mindfucking category. Amazing book, i love it)...currently optioned i believe...wolfgang petersen is scheduled to direct this soon...
His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman (about a girl in an Oxford sort of similar but not quite like Oxford here...it's hard to explain but it's fantasy/sci-fi...an amazing trilogy, though it's considered quite controversial due to its views on God, angels, the church, etc etc...)...optioned by New Line currently, script being written by the guy who wrote Shakespeare in Love.
Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk (a guy in an airplane about to crash talks about his life...really messed up but i enjoyed it. not exactly like fight club, but it has its own great parts)...was optioned a while ago but it never got off the ground because of the 9/11 attacks.
that's all i can think of for now...

As for my choice, I would say the book Bridge To Terabithia, *only* if it was placed in competent hands. That's one of my favorite books from childhood and I think it could be a very touching sentimental movie if done correctly. However, it would probably be turned into a melodramatic lifetime movie with no impact, so it's probably better off never being made.

I only slightly remember watching Bridge To Terebithia in sixth grade. I remember not liking it, but I also remember not really liking anything in school for that matter.
I've always wanted to read "1984"... and from the way it's described, it sounds like it could be a very decent film.

Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk is an excellent choice, or even Lullaby, but I would prefer his latest Diary to be made into a film. It probably isn't the best to adapt, but my favorite by far.
Night This is much better then Schindler's List, and would put much more emphasis on the terror in the camps.
David Rabe's play Hurlyburly should be remade. Anthony Drazan totally dropped the ball with his 1998 version, which would seem impossible with freakin' Kevin Spacey and Sean Penn as your leads.
I would say 2061, but without Kubrick that should not be.
Also, The Lord of the Flies should be definitely be remade with no annoying kids, as impossible as that sounds. Plus, the two movies never put much emphasis on the themes presented in the book. Innocence was lost gradually, and some characters were not fully explored, particularly Simon.

Books
Charles Schwab's Guide to Financial Independence -- It may not roll off the tip of your tongue, but it's a real story about a real guy who likes to make real money by selling people his real book that gives real, useful advice.
Comic Books -- Oops...this one is meant for the "What form of art should people stop turning into films?"
Double Oops...that's not even a real thread. Maybe I'll create a new thread: "What do loser Hollywood directors read when they're not sucking studio dick or making comic book movies?"
TV
The X-Files -- I know they already made an X-files movie, but I think audiences might have responded better if the lead actors had been fresh, new faces. Or forgotten, old faces in need of some quick cash.
TV Commercials
The Geico Commercials -- That little Gecko just cracks me up every time I see him. If its a hit, maybe the Aflack duck could be his sidekick in the sequel.
Video Games
Tetris -- A mind thriller about kids who think they are having fun playing video games, but are actually being trained by a new socialist regime to reclaim the best paying job that can be held by an illegal Mexican immigrant in today's society: Bricklaying.

Richard Mathesons 'I Am Legend' and Stephen Kings 'Desperation'
are two books i'm waiting for films of.
Games - Halo: would be interesting depending on the budget they gave it, its got the whole starship troopers / aliens thing going for it so a studio could try and launch it as a franchise.
And for a change what about great films / tv being made into games - '24' is just crying out for a videogame
