View Full Version : NFL Playoff Schmoe Fantasy Football Contest

Hi schmoes, since our regular season fantasy football league is ending tonight, I figured why not extend it for three more weeks and also give people a chance who didn't get the opportunity to get in our schmoe league a chance to play.

General Info- The idea is pretty much the same as our fantasy league we just completed, with a few changes. Each player will have the chance to choose who they want out of the available matchups that certain week. Wildcard week will have four games, so you would have to choose players from those eight teams competing and so on up through the conference championship games, where we will end it. There will be no contest Super Bowl week.

The roster will look as follows:

QB-
RB-
RB-
WR-
WR-
TE-
K-
D/S- (Individual defense/special teams)

I will detail the point system we will use next and add up point totals after the game and see who comes out on top after the three weeks of action.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Point System- It is a little different from what you schmoes in the Joblo fantasy league are used to, but similar. Since I'll have to compile the totals, I'm going with what I'm used to and is simplest to me.:)

Quarterback scoring

4pts- for td pass
6pts- for td run
1pt- for every 25 yds passing
1pt- for every 10 yds rushing
1pt- for a two point conversion throw
2pts- for a two point conversion run
(-)1- for an interception or fumble that is lost
3pt bonus- for a 300 yd passing game

Running back/Receiver/Tight End Points

6pts- for a td catch/run
1pt- every 10 yds rushing/receiving
2pts- for a 2pt conversion run/reception
3 pt bonus- for a 100 yd receiving/rushing game
(-)1- for a lost fumble

Kicker points

3pts- for a field goal less than 50 yds
5pts- for a field goal 50 yds or more
1pt- for an extra point

Defense/Special Teams points

First I'll clarify, you pick one team defense instead of individual players. ex: Baltimore.

6pts- for a defensive/special teams td
2pts- for a safety
1pt- for a int/fumble recovery
1pt- for a sack
7pt bonus- holding the opponent to zero points
5pt bonus- holding the opponent to 2-9 points
3pt bonus- holding the opponent to 10-14 points
1pt bonus- holding the opponent to 15-20 points
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well that is it as far as scoring, can anyone think of any scenario's I've forgotten. Just ask if you have a question. Like I said, it will be a running total and I'll declare the one with the most points the winner after the conference championship games. Here are the matchups for next week's wildcard round, pick players from these teams and submit a lineup in this thread before the first game on Saturday. I'll post mine tomorrow, good luck.:)

I feel sorry for the Ravens. Having to play two teams and all...

:D:p

I can't participate here because I don't know much about individual players yet. :(

Well it's true his hair isn't what it used to be, but Hasselhoff can still throw with the best of them. I'm sure Seattle will lose, but I think Matt will give Favre a run for his money in terms of yardage.

Well the wildcard week is history. I can't believe how well us schmoes did as a collective group, just awesome scores all the way around. HorrorFreak is the week 1 leader, but six out of the seven players are still within striking distance as there is two weeks to go. As for RicShaw you've got some catching up to do, but there is two weeks to do it.:)

Well nice job schmoes, I'll post next weeks matchups tomorrow so you can start thinking about lineups. Anyone who missed this week's contest and wants in, go right ahead. You may not be able to take the overall crown, but you could be weekly winner. Good luck.:)

PS: Sorry if the individual player totals are tough to read, they weren't supposed to come out like that.:D I left a bunch of space in between the teams, but they came out side by side. This was alot of work to type this, I'm not going back and editing.:p Oh woe is me. You can check your own totals, if I made any mistakes let me know.

Well, in my little football fantasy I break down in the Foxboro Stadium parking lot and Tom Brady and Tedy Brusci come wandering out of the player's exit with Adam Vinateiri, still kinda damp and warm from their showers, yaknow.

And I'm bending over the hood of my car, so this cathes their eyes, see, and then I turn sort of innocent-like and say "oh my, you boys look so big and strong and I just can't understand WHY this silly car won't start."

Well one thing leads to another and...

wait...

fantasy football... not football fantasy...

never mind.
