just finished watchin the living daylights

have to say i thoroughly enjoy timothy daltons portrayal of bond.....certainly he is more brooding and brings lkess humour to the role than say moore or brosnan....but he has his own individual qualities which bring a darkness to the role which were highlighted in flemmings original novels

think he gets a bad rep....do the schmoes have any thoughts on him?

We all know that it was supposed to have been Brosnon taking over when Moore said no more after "View To Kill". I myself found the referred as Shakespeare like Bond awright but not on my top list of Bond movies.

I'm split. I loved Living Daylights and hated License To Kill.

Dalton is definitely my least favorite Bond after Lazenby, but I actually really like both The Living Daylights and License To Kill a lot. Go figure.

Dalton was definately closest to the James Bond of the novels but he lacked a certain charm that Connery put in Bond and that Brosnan, and even Moore, has.

i guess what i like is that each bond brought something different to the role

connery was all masculinity....the most manly and tough of the 4

moore was all camp fun...

dalton was dark and brooding

brosnan a mix of the 3....more senstitive and vulnerable

I have to hold up me hand and say that i have enjoyed all 5 portrayals of James Bond so far. each gave something different to the character and that works for me. I've actually given each actor a nickname, mostly as a result of some drunken tomfoolery ;)

Connery- "Bond" Bond

Lazenby "emotive" bond

Moore- "Comedy/sla[stick" Bond

Dalton- "Darker than a dark thing at midnight" Bond

Brosnan- "action Bond" (see tomorrow never dies for details ;))

what can i say? i was drunk. but i love all 5 of them :)

Dalton appeared in one good Bond (The Living Daylights) & one duffer (Licence To Kill) so it's a shame the series stalled in the early nineties & he never got the chance to explore his realistic portrayal of the character further.

Especially when you consider the current sorry state of the franchise under Brosnan.

dalton stood up in a time where most bond fans were used to moore`s style, so he wasnt liked by most fans.
as for living daylights, it is not great but it is much better than a view to a kill or license to kill

I REALLY disliked Timothy Dalton as Bond and did not care for the Living Daylights or Liscense To Kill...

I will say this though. I have not seen either in years so now might be the time to give ol' T.D. another chance...
