View Full Version : NFL Playoff Confidence Pool

Hello Everyobody.

If you missed out on the Schmoe NFL Weekly Confidence Pool...then you should be ashamed of yourself.

Fortunately you have been given an oppurtunity for redemption.

Introducing the Schmoe NFL Playoffs Condfidence Pool:

The rules are similar to any other confidence pool.

Every weekend you pick the winner of each game and assign a point value to each game. If you pick the correct winner of the game, you add the assigned score to your total score. Whoever has the most points at the end of the week is declared the winner.

Here is the twist...each week you have a total of 100 points to assign to your games. You can break up the points between games in any fashion you would like but you must give each game a minimum of 15 points. Your total points for the week must add up to 100.

Ex.
Conference Champiohship Weekend
60 pts New England over Tennessee
40 pts Philly over Dallas

I will add up everyones scores and keep track throughout the playoffs so that there will be a Grand Champion as well as weekly champions.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good Luck Everyone!

I couldn't make the regular season pool (although I didd do it for my health club, I never had the time to post the picks here), so I'll start now:

50- Green Bay
25- Indianapolis
15- Carolina
10- Baltimore

All the home teams win...

Devastating mistake there by Hasselhoff at the very end, but overall, a great game by both teams. Seattle played much better than I had expected...next year will be our year. I still love my Seahawks, and despite the mistake, my Matt Hasselhoff.

damn martz. how can you be so conservative. same with sherman, fourth and 1, make it and you win. conservative kills, people. both my sb predictions are out (raiders, rams in pre season) (titans, rams in this pool)

on the other hand, i knew green bay's streak would end, with eagles winning. and i definately knew the chiefs would do what they do best and choke. a new defense is in order for them.
anyone catch the locker room interview with tony gonzalez. he looked like he was going to cry and criticized the refs for his push off call. weak call, and those are the kinds of players you want. the ones that care.

here's next week's even though i suck

*******IDEA FOR SUPER BOWL WEEK CONFIDENCE POOL******

This could be interesting, I just want to see what you schmoes think. How about we play the Super Bowl week like a round a final jeopardy, you know the tv show. I say each schmoe can bet up to half of their total points accumulated on the Super Bowl, but if you lose the wager, you lose the points. I'll DQ myself after this week and kind of be Alex Trebek.:D I think it would be fun if no one else knew who you are picking and how much you are betting. PM me your picks before gametime and I'll post them on that Sunday in this thread.

Example round

MIZ- 220 (he bets 100 pts on Team A)
Morgana-200(she bets 75 pts on Team A)
Sev-180(he bets 90 pts on Team A)

Team B wins the game

Final standings
Morgana- 125
MIZ- 120
Sev- 90

Sound good? I promise I wont cheat.:) We can even declare two separate winners, one for the first three playoff rounds, and a Super Bowl winner if you guys want, since I'm making up rules as I go.:)

Just a thought to try to make it fun. Let me know. This way if everyone takes the same team and that team loses, it could be the person that bet the least may have a shot.

I propose that Morgana forfeit all her points to the board to be divided up evenly among the rest of the group. Why you ask? Well um... hmmm.... because I'd be embarassed to get beat by a girl in this. Shall we take a vote?:D Just kidding, here are my picks for this week.

My thinking is that this rule is kind of a reward for people at the top, who have done well up to this point. So that people near the bottom cant double up, it's just more for the fact that you should do well through the whole thing to win it. But like I said, if everyone picks one team, you never know what could happen.

I probably wont be making my pick until tomorrow but you can send me a pm with your picks anytime, I've already got a couple so I wont open them until then.

Oooh...March Madness, that would be a blast! We could do brackets or something. I'm sure you'll come up with something.

Congrats on winning your own game again, PJ.

And congrats to me for coming in 3rd. :D Thanks Morgs and Sev, I was really sweating it out after Carolina scored to tie it up. But my best friend John Kasay booted one out of bounds to give them great field position.:D They only needed 20 or 30 yards after that, and well you know the how it ended.:)

Yeah speaking of March Madness we'll just pick the games all the way to the end before the tournament starts and see who does the best. Usually I find it works out the best if you assign a point total to each round of the games and go up as it gets closer to the finals, but we have time work that out.

If the Panthers won I would have won too! Dammit!

We were betting against the spread, right? ;)
