I hope this is the right forum. I figure because this is a list it was appropriate here than the celebrity chat forum but if it isn't then if a moderator could just move it then that would be great :)
What are actors who you love that SHOULD be major stars but aren't?
I just finished watching season 2 of Dawson's Creek the other day and I have to ask: Why the hell isn't Meredith Monroe, who was SO heartbreakingly good (both her and Joshua Jackson deserved emmy nominations for their work during this season) as Andie McPhee, a major star?????
Others:
Neal McDonough (though he does have a role in the upcoming movie Walking Tall with The Rock which could do him well)
Bruce Greenwood (has done lots of movies and doesn't seem to have trouble getting work, thankfully, but he deserves meatier roles than the ones he is wasted in movies like The Core and Hollywood Homicide)
There are others I will list later but that is it for now. What are your picks?

I always wonder why Ileana Douglas isn't totally famous. She's a very talented actress, with a face and body even I can appreciate. Gotta love her wide, almond-shaped eyes, and she's got a delightfully wicked sense of humor (anyone else remember her guest appearance in Six Feet Under?). I'd rather watch her than Julia Roberts any time.

Good choice. He gives one of the most underrated performances of the decade in Thirteen Days. Same must also be said about his co-star, Steven Culp.

Ellen Greene. She's played in a handful of movies and is a broadway actress, but she's not as famous as she should be. The woman is not only talented, but she's stunningly beautiful. It just makes me mad when you see some of these people who cannot act, and they are in TONS of movies, but you see these rear jewls who can act, but the don't get the stardom they deserve. Well, Ellen is definitly one of those people who should be a major star.

Damn right these two should be major major stars! Buscemi has the major potential to be a big star actor and Madsen has the cool suave feel to make it to the bigger leagues!

Barry freaking Pepper. The guy is great and has star power.
Now I love Steve Buscemi, but I'm not sure if I want him to be a "major" star, a la Matt Damon or Tom Cruise. I think his strength and appeal lies in being the everyman, reminding us of our own crazy uncle or something. Roger Ebert once had a great quote about Christopher Walken, saying that CW is "one of the few actors in movie history who always draws a quiet rustle of pleasure from the audience the first time he appears on the screen." That's Steve Buscemi, too. Sometimes I wish that I didn't know he was in a movie the first time I see it (The Big Lebowski, Fargo), so that I could be pleasantly surprised. I don't know if I would want him to be featured on a lot of movie posters.

I'd also like to add:
Michael Chicklis
Ray Liotta
Tom Sizemore
Jason Lee-(if he picked better roles like his supporting role in Vanilla Sky is a perfect example of his acting chops)
Orlando Bloom-(already is becoming one but a big time star has potential and is a better actor then the other young actors out there)
