Just yesterday or so, I caught sight that the Online Film Critics Society announced the nominations for their annual awards. The majority of the list consists of non-horror nominees, but a few genre films (highlighted below) were nominated for their efforts:

Charlize Theron, MONSTER
Uma Thurman, KILL BILL: VOL. 1
Naomi Watts, 21 GRAMS

Adapted Screenplay

Don Coscarelli, BUBBA HO-TEP
Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson & Frances Walsh, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
Brian Helgeland, MYSTIC RIVER
Billy Ray, SHATTERED GLASS

Breakthrough Performance

Keisha Castle-Hughes, WHALE RIDER
Peter Dinklage, THE STATION AGENT
Chiwetel Ejiofor, DIRTY PRETTY THINGS

Sound

28 DAYS LATER
KILL BILL: VOL. 1

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL

Not too shabby, eh?

I missed the Don Coscarelli nomination earlier, nice job. And as I mentioned in the General Movie Talk thread, I'm so glad Angela Bettis got nominated, but I doubt she'll win. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
