Well done, Roswell! I'd be excited in knowing all the rankings and how everything turns out. :)
I feel these stars really do DESERVE to be here, in the first part...
Jean-Claude Van Damme is not THE worst, but he's one of them, so I'm glad he's here....
Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Lopez I feel are ranked too low.....they've had some stinkers in their lifetime but they are really not bad IMO.

I can't believe that some people in this second part are here (Bill Pullman, Matthew McConaughey, Whoopi Godlberg), when Natalie Portman, Gerard Depardieu and Ben Chaplin were in the former part... And who's Donal Logue?

I think Matt McConaughey and Kate Hudson should be much lower, IMO they're two of the WORST "performers" working today.
As for Eric Bana being so low, I can totally understand that. Why? Because he sucks! :D
Seriously, I think the kid can't act worth shit, he nearly RUINED Black Hawk Down for me, and don't get me started on The Hulk.....
P.S. - Roswell, just a thought, after you've given us the results, would you mind doing a rate the actors who are 'no longer with us' topic? You know, the legends, such as Bogie, Cagney, Hepburn, Bergman, etc. Just a thought. :)

I think that's a great idea. But do you think it is possible you could take that job upon yourself? You seem to be the expert on it anyway.:)
And i'm a little tired of this counting for now, and i think you would do a better job of finding all the actors from that time period.

Sling Blade
And that's just by what i've seen.
I have to say that so far the top100 is pretty good.
Oh, and I agree with you about Charlize, Greb. People will finally see how great she is when they see the film, I'm sure. She just needed the adecuate role, the talent was there all the time.
Okay. I still need to see The Man Who Wasn't There, but the ONLY movie I thought Thornton was good in was Sling Blade. Granted, he was GREAT in Sling Blade, but the rest of those...meh. Bandits was HORRIBLE.
And Charlize will finally get a nod. Have you seen Monster already?

But from the trailers I can pretty much say she'll be terrific. The movie reminds me to Boys Don't Cry: an average film that could have been made for TV that is just something more thanks to the awesome performance of its female lead. Charlize is the Hillary Swank of this year. Let's just hope she makes better use of her Oscar than Hillary has done.

Your loss, DM. It is so much more than a made for TV movie though.

Looking like a great list so far, though many good actors are down low: Cameron Diaz, David Boreanaz, Nick Stahl, Natalie Portman...
I wanna give a BIG THANKS to Roswell, thanks for putting your time and effort into this, mate. Bravo.

Hoffman is one of the best 25 if not lower actors alive imo.
He could have easily gotten nominations if not awards for:
Love Liza, Owning Mahony, Magnolia, Cold Mountain, 25th Hour, Almost Famous, State and Main, Flawless
And also does a great job in
Red Dragon, Talented Mr Ripley, Big Lebowski, Happiness, Boogie Nights.
I love Pesci, but I am not as outraged because although he was great in Goodfellas, Raging Bull and Casino, he's had his share of Easy Money and 8 Heads in a duffelbag...
Oh yeah, and Vince Vaughn is genius, someone save him from the dreadful 300s!

Believe me, 86 is NOT a bad place to be.
He could ALMOST be considered equal with many actors who come ahead of him.;)

I certainly do not think that Tobey Maguire should be above some of these actors like John Turturro, Guy Pearce and especially Emily Watson.
Great list so far, Roswell. Can't wait to see the rest...

John Turturro and Vincent D'Onofrio are two of the top ten actors working.
Period.
And Toby Maguire is better than Clint Eastwood?
Ha.

BTW, good work, Roswell. I know the results aren't your doing.

No, not better, insactly equal, that's why they share the same place(71).
Same with John Turturro and Sally Field; Anne Bancroft and Vincent D'Onofrio.
But i know what you mean, Mr. Maguire is at entirely too high of a position in my opinion.;)

Oops. My bad.
Equal.
Cider House Rules, Spiderman and Pleasantville are right up there with Unforgiven, Play Misty for Me, The man with no name trilogy, Bridges of Madison County, Pale Rider, Tightrope, Escape From Alcatraz, The Outlaw Josey Wales, the Dirty Harry series, High Plains Drifter, Hang 'em High, etc.
I wonder what the mean age is of your voters.

I wouldn't want to be too biased, but Tobey Maguire shouldn't be even in the top 100, many actors who were left out, would be more deserving of his place.
But i unfortunately can't change the outcome.:(
Not that i'm complaining too much, i'm quite happy with the results otherwise, if you don't count a few disagreaments.

Look at it this way...
Om Puri and Charlie Creed-Miles didn't even MAKE the list...and they're infinitely better than Tobey.
Brian Cox, Harry Dean Stanton, Robert Carlyle, Christopher Guest, Toni Collette, Stellan Skarsgård, Terence Stamp, Liv Ullmann, and Alfred Molina are all FAR TOO LOW.

Tobey Maguire better than Robert De Niro, Anne Bancroft and Emily Watson???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! !
Sorry, I got carried away there...:D
But seriously, I know it's the schmoes who voted but I just think to myself and wonder how Mr. Spidey got this high; I mean, he's capable of doing good work (even though about 99% of the time he plays himself) and choosing great projects but he's really not great by any means IMO, let alone better than some of the best actors in the business today.

I'm happy for Cusack, because I feel that he is one of the most underappreciated actors today. However, Sean Penn at 55? This is an injustice! After seeing his work in 21 Grams, Mystic River, I am Sam, Dead Man Walking, Bad Boys, Taps, Carlito's Way and more, it's hard to see people like Ray Liotta ahead of him. Nothing taken away from Liotta, I think he's great, but there has never been a role of his that particularly stands out to me, what with Pesci dominating Goodfellas, except Narc, where he's in a supporting role. Sean Penn would be in my top 10.
btw Roswell, great job on compiling this list! I know you're with me on Penn's placement ;)

Personally I prefer Liotta's acting to Penn's often over-the-top unrealistic persona. Liotta is a much better actor IMO, but that's what this is, it's all about what people voted. Where you would have voted Penn higher, others like myself would have voted Liotta higher. Penn was the bomb in Carlito's Way and Dead Man Walking though

How do you mean? I agree he shouldn't be this close to the top, but the bold statement confuses me. So in real life he's a web-slinging (Spider-Man) literary prodigy (Wonder Boys) and an over-achieving jockey (Seabiscuit)? :p

Well....no. But even though he isn't, he always plays those sensitive, vulnerable, nice kind of guys who learns a few facts and lessons about life, no matter what role he's in (The Cider House Rules, Spider-Man, The Ice Storm, etc.); I'm not saying that's a problem or anything, but I would like to see Mr. Maguire expand his range a little bit (in my eyes, he only showed a bit of a diversity in Wonder Boys). :)
And hooray for Neeson, Fiennes, Cusack, and McGregor. Nice rankings, and of course big thanks to Roswell. :)

I'm guilty of saying someone plays him/her self quite a few times probably, which i couldn't possibly know as i don't really know them personnally. But what i really mean is that they are playing variations of that one character over and over, and that doesn't justify in the case of Tobey being that close to the top.
