Ok, we all know about Jet Li and Jackie Chan, but here's some names you might have forgotten... Bruce Lee, John Saxon, Jim Kelly (black belt jones), Van Damme, Steven Segal.
Who do you think is the best of all time?
Who could kick who's ass?
My pick would have to be Jet Li.

Lee was the best. You have a good list, but left on one name who may not make great movies, but is great when it comes to martial arts and tha is Chuck Norris.

Jet Li kicks ass. I don't really like Jackie Chan. He's funny in all his american movies, but he's just kinda old. i guess...

You people are picking Jet li over Bruce Lee?! The man who pretty much started it all??? I am shocked and appauled.

Bruce Lee may have started it all, but I think Jet Li is the better fighter - not sure about actor though. Bruce would definitely be a close second in my book.
Favorite line from Enter The Dragon "Boards don't hit back."
Jackie Chan. Without a doubt. I mean, he's the guy that proved that not all martial artists are boring and have no sense of humour!

Bruce Lee all the way! Comparing Bruce Lee and Jet Li is like comparing Jeet Kune Do and Kung Fu. One martial art is better than the other. But on the other hand if ur comparing Jet Li and Jackie Chan...no competition. Jet Li is ur number 1 choice.

Just for the record, Jet Li is a student of wushu, not kung fu. You have to give credit to Bruce Lee for creating his own martial artform, though.

I've always thought of Bruce Lee as the greatest martial artist to ever live. Then again i've never seen a Jet Li film. I think Jackie Chan makes the most enjoyable film(s). I put "()" there because all his movies are the same.

I would have to say Jet Li is better than Bruce Lee. Without Bruce Lee no one would have ever heard of Jet Li, but Jet Li is still the better movie-martial arts star. Not only can Jet fight in hand to hand combat, which Bruce is probably better at, but Jet can also use weapons. Such as the belt scene in fist of legend, and especially the last two fight scenes in Once Upon a time in china 2. At least I think its the second one, I'm not entirely sure. But unless you've seen OUATIC I or II, do not judge Jet Li, because that is his best work.

Bruce can use weapons as well, man. If Bruce was still with us he wouild put Jet over his knees and paddle his ass.

Bruce Lee is obviously the best, with Chuck Norris at second.

Bruce Lee is the coolest and the baddest with his Fist of Fury. Hahahaha. All joking aside, to me there is no comparision... Hands down Bruce Lee is the better fighter- Chuck Norris is still pretty cool... They made a movie together and I saw it once... Can anybody remember the name of it?

I've seen the movie but i was very little at the time (like 6) so i too would like to know the name. I remember they fought in it under like a dock or something and there was sand i think. It was pretty cool but of course we all know who wins!
dat film be 'the way of the dragon'
directed by bruce himself around 1972

If I'm not mistaken, Bruce and Chuck were in "Return of the Dragon"
In My opinion, Jacki Chan is the best. I like how he uses anything and everything for a weapon.
You might say "but Bruce Lee stared it all!" that may be true, but think of the first person who made a movie, its not eveybodys favorite, because we like other styles.

Bruce Lee opened the door for Asian actors...Not only in movies but on tv also...That to me means that not only was he a good fighter, but he was also determined, and he didn't give up.I admire people like that. Wasn't he Kato on the Green Hornet series?

It would definately have ot be Jet Li even though Jackie Chan is pretty good. The only thing about Jet Li is that a lot of his movies have Matrix-type moves in them.

Definitely the Bruce Lee Wannabe in "Kentucky Fried Movie". The section titled "A Fistful Of Yen". That movie kicks ass and so does he...

Well.. both Jet Li and Bruce lee used Stuntmen... and Bruce Lee sucked on camera without one... But he could kick everyone but Chuck Norris' ass... and Jackie Chan beat up Chuck Norris... and Jackie Chan was Bruce Lee's Stuntman... And Jackie Chan was beaten in a spar match to three points by Jet Li, whose fist was always beaten by Bruce Lees style of Fist... so they all kick ass. But ONE MAN COULD HAVE DEFEATED THEM ALL:
Bruce Leroy-The Last Dragon...
THIS FACT IS SHO' NUFF the best.

Jakie-Chan, NQA! When was the last time you saw Bruce Lee fight off eight guys with a ladder or ski down a mounain just to jump off a helicopter into freezing cold water... (References from "First Strike") Sure, sure, Lee has the moves, but all he can do is move quickly. Chan, as some people have already mentioned, also appeals to the audience with REAL stunts and humorous out takes at the ends of most of his films.

Hmph so you want to learn kong-fu? Well then watch my technique,whipish,whaa,...
Out of all these guys i'd have to choose Jet-li.Just cause Jackie does his own stunts doesn't make him a better martial artist,it makes him the Muthaf*#kn man doh.He also knows alot of fighting styles & hes quick in body & mind. But in most of his movies hes never the dominant fighter,he don't stand his ground he runs then fights, which is cool cause we get to see alot of dem stunts when he trys to make a dash. Also i haven't seen him with any kinda title like Bruce & Jet-li has.But speed & power is where i think Bruce ruled, his fight scenes looked more lethal cause he didn't take long in his fights, for example in enter the dragon the guy he fought in the tournament could hardly blink before Bruce smashed his face in,hehe. But i think Jet-li has speed, power & techniques that kikass! And chinas wu-shu champ at such a young age & a whole lot of other achievements damn!,if you don't know whatzup with the dude ya should check out his website Jet-li.com it kixass.Well dats my words on da subject, class dismissed.

Brandon Lee should be mentioned, he was cut short before his full potential could be showcased. Check out his fighting in 'Rapid Fire'. Al Leong whowas also in 'Rapid Fire', 'Lethal Weapon' and countless of other movies is phenomenal. Jeff Speakman is a great martial artist, though his movies have something to be desired, namely acting. And Russell Wong, who played opposite Jet Li in 'Romeo Must Die' is fantastic. Jean-Claude should not even be talked about with all the martial artists mentioned by everybody, he is a hack with a nice six pack. Dolph Lundgren is also good, he was the European and Australian Champion years ago. /ubb/biggrin.gif /ubb/biggrin.gif

I don't really like the guy that much any more, but in a real fight I would put my money on Steven Seagal against anybody mentioned above. The guy can do some serious shit.

I think Jackie Chan is the best movie martial artist. Nobody is as fun to watch as this clever guy. He is creative as far as fights go (Watch "Who am I?" to see one of the best 2 vs 1 fights ever!) and the guy is a riot. He might not be a comedian but he is funnier then most people in hollywood nowadays. Jet Li uses WAY too many wire tricks and Bruce Lee was too serious(He still kicked major ass though). I wish Brandon Lee could've lived a little longer.

Seagal was a hard ass fighter. Now I am afraid he is a fat joke. Let's hope that Joel Silver sticks to his guns and makes him lose weight for Exit Wounds.
Early Van Damme was good, but now I think he is trying to capture a new audience only he doesn't know what it is. Hey I am a fan.
But I must say Bruce Lee was great, Jackie Chan is great and Jet Li has yet to have the American vehicle to show everyone that he is as great.

Terminator, I believe you are mistaken, I doubt Seagal could hold his own against anyone on that list save for Van Damme. Seagal isn't even in the same catagory as Bruce Lee.

Direwolf, do you know anything about Steven Seagal or what he's accomplished in the field of martial arts? Do you know anything about martial arts? I practice Kenpo and have studied Akido, so I know what I'm talking about.
For the record, I'll say it again, I am NOT a big fan a Seagal's. I don't like alot of things about him, but I do however have great respect for what he has done and can do in martial arts. I think anyone that says he is not in the league of the others talked about here is full of shit and their opinion is of little value on this topic.
