Remember, not all of these are horrible endings, in my opinion, but I know that there are a lot of people out there who hate the endings to some of these films.
Enjoy!

Planet of the Apes (2001)
If that ending made ANY sense whatsoever (and I doubt it did), could somebody PLEASE explain just what the HELL was going on with that?
Awful ending to an awful movie.

I disliked Unbreakables Text base ending, but Planet of the Apes made no sense whatsoever.
Definitely UNBREAKABLE... What a dumb ending! It was so lame! It ruins the rest of the movie.

Actually, my vote goes to Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. How ridiculous? It's like he had no twist to compare to the original, and he just throws something completely STUPID in there. Good God.
As for Unbreakable, I agree, the ending isn't good. But it's still a powerful scene, to me. I think if Shymalan would've left off the title cards saying what happened, and just had Willis walk out, the ending would've been much more haunting and powerful.

Minority Report, the movie was good until the somewhat forced ending, this movie was not meant to end with a happy ending imo. I know that it also could have been Tom's dream inside the halo. But i think that Spielberg thought to himself, i can't do this, this is immoral, must slap a happy ending together.

Planet of the Apes. Burton should not be allowed to do another remake (namely Willy Wonka) until he explains what the fuck happened in the end

No one said A.I????? Holy crap! The ending towards that movie stretched out so badly it was pathetic. Oh you can only be with her for 1 day....WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Aliens? THat was typical speilberg and i hated it. The 2nd would have to be PLanet of the apes but that wasnt as stretched out as the horrid A.I. ending.

It simply has to be that ending to Planet of the Apes which was senseless and stupid to say the least.
Followed by the dreadful A.I., the ending made that already shitty shit much shittier.

I didn't vote, b/c I didn't actually hate any of the endings on the list. If "Other/Specify" would have been a poll selection, I would've voted for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. The truly abyssmal ending marred an otherwise instant horror classic.

Planet of the Apes. Quite idiotic, in my opinion.
2001: A Space Odyssey is actually one of my favorite endings of all-time.

Couldn't stand the ending of Unbreakable. Actually, couldn't stand the entire movie.
That being said, the ending to Planet Of The Apes was also nothing short of proposterous. The ending of the original was a lot more clever and interesting, in my eyes.

Just so you guys know, Jerk put 2001: A Space Odyssey on there as a joke. It's a funny one, I might add. :p
And I don't hate, or even dislike ANY of the movies on that list.
Unbreakable was one of my favs of 2000 (so shoot me!), and a big improvement on The Sixth Sense.
Then there's Minority Report and A.I.. It seems almost everybody thinks these had longer endings than needed. That's cool, but I just wish everyone wouldn't rip Spielberg for A.I.'s "happy" ending. It was Kubrick's story, and Kubrick had that ending. And I hope I don't offend anyone here, but I see the outlook of hating these endings because they're "happy" as a double-edged sword. I've seen people criticize casual movie-watchers for disliking films because they're too sad or depressing. So why is it okay to disprove of films because they had a "happy" ending? Again, I'm not trying to disrespect anyone's opinion here, I've just been meaning to get this off my chest for a while. :)

Actually, I'm convinced those were advanced A.I. robots...
As for the confusion on Burton's Planet of the Apes, I agree with Former Schmoe doctor drew's theory. Which can be found here (http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=10662&highlight=Thade#post10662):
******************* SPOILERS **********************
After Wahlberg gets back in the Alpha Pod and takes off back for Earth, he's forced to once again travel through the crazy magnetic field storm. If you remember from the beginnning of the film, when he originally went through it, time was accelerated some 1000 years, which explains how the people from his crew crashed landed on the planet and how they co-existed with the super smart apes only to eventually be enslaved by the apes...the 1000 years would also account for how they apes became super-evolved. His crew travelled in real time but he did not.
Now, when Wahlberg heads back through the storm, here's what probably happened. General Thade was never killed, he was merely locked up in the spacehship and in our final shot of him, you can tell he looks mighty pissed. He probably escaped from the ship, continued to enslave the humans (or at least rule the apes) but here's the twist...he probably got Pericles (Wahlberg's ape) to pilot the ship (which was still working) back to planet Earth, thereby taking over that planet too. When Wahlberg went back into the storm, the time was accelerated another 1000 years, which would have given Thade and his apes plenty of time to colonize Earth and maybe even kill off all the humans. (assuming Thade and the apes travelled through the storm in real time) If you read the inscription on the Lincoln Monument (with Thade's face, it said something to the effect of "In honour of our saviour and founding father General Thade).
It didn't quite hit me at first...but I'm pretty sure that's what Burton was aiming for..
Hope that helps.

The endings to the other films were justifiable but Planet of The Apes was totally absurd no matter how many theories are applied to it.

Burton's fans will take shit from him and swear it's chocolate. He wanted a setup for a sequel, logic be damned. They like him, so they bought it.
End of story.

Planet of the Apes all the friggin' way.
On a side note, what was wrong with the endings of 2001 and Minority Report?

Personally, I didn't have a problem with any of these endings; not even Planet of the Apes really. But I'd say the other endings are better than it, and since also it's clearly the worst movie of the bunch, I'll vote for that one too.

Seeing all the the waaaaay unfair hate for Tim Burton's "Planet of The Apes" (come on people, it wasn't THAT bad), I'll explain the ending:
SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE LIVING UNDER A ROCK!!
In the end of the POTA remake, Mark Wahlberg, having beaten the evil ape, Tim Roth, goes back to earth in his regular time in the past...only to find it run by apes, while the statue of Lincoln is now the statue of the Tim Roth. Isn't it obvious? Tim Roth somehow fixed the spaceship left over on the ape planet and used it go back in time...and changed history. There you go.
SPOILERS OVER
Anyway, it is a decent ending for the underrated remake. And, althouth this isn't on the top of my list of movies-to-be-made, I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel Burton's remake, going over Mark Wahlberg's further adventures.

Planet of the Apes (2001)
The ending ruined what was turning out to be a decent, but not great, movie. It felt like the film didn't really have an ending, so Burton just decided to shoot this nonsensical crap and tack it on.

The ending of A.I. was awful, and Planet of the Apes ('01) was bad too. I like all the others, especially Unbreakable. Amzing ending. Blew me away.

I'm going with The Planet of the Apes remake but A.I is a very close second.
The worst ending i've even seen in any movie belongs to City of the Living Dead a.k.a The Gates of Hell. It seems like they didn't even know how to finish it.
