I've got to give Peter Jackson "the edge" (whatever the hell that means). After him would come Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, then Clint Eastwood.

I say give it to Peter Jackson. I'd rather see Kill Bill Volume 2 to see what Tarantino accomplished before giving him another Oscar

Peter Jackson for the same reason i said Sean Astin for Best Supporting Actor and even more for Peter Jackson because of his devotion, time and effort into making this the greatest trilogy of our time in my opinon and keeping it so faithful to J.R.R. Tolkien's books and because he finally deserves one for his crowning achievment out of the trilogy the The Return Of The King

I have to go with Peter Jackson's amazing work in bringing the LOTR trilogy to a close in such a glorious fashion.

Quentin Tarantino for "Kill Bill". Although I have a bad feeling the film is going to be entirely shut out.

So do I. It'll be just like my favorite movie of last year, GONY, and absolutely bomb at the Oscars.

Quentin. The movie, the fight scenes all had to be timed perfectley and QT did.

No doubt about it, Peter Jackson deserves the OSCAR this year.......however I would be fine with Sofia Coppolla winning too.

In a non-political world, Quentin Tarantino would get the nod.

It would mean that you'd be giving him U2's guitarist...

Wayne Kramer who directed The Cooler. IMO, it was one of this years best movies.

Even though Tim Burton is my favorite director...ever, I still hope that Peter Jackson wins. He deserves it more than anyone.
Although, I do hope that Burton, Tarantino and Coppola get nominated as well....they all did great jobs.

Peter Jackson deserves a nod simply for all those years of work to create one of the greatest fantasy epics of my generation.

Sofia Coppola would be a close runner-up.

Just like the movie, I think they will look at the Lord of the Rings as a whole and give it to Jackson.

oh, and I will be pissed if they don't

I'd pick Clint Eastwood over Peter Jackson anyday. It's harder to direct actors than it is special effects.
