I bought this set myself and am slowly working my way through it. As you've probably realised, the picture and sound quality on the films is pretty poor, but most of the films are actually quite enjoyable. If you haven't seen Deep Red this will undoubtedly be the star of the set, but House On The Edge Of The Park and Christmas Evil are a couple of other beauties. The others are all quite good... there's not one film that stands out as being terrible.

I saw you listed I BURY THE LIVING as well... just watched that on a drive-in disc and it was quite good... a good, original idea that hasn't really been copied much since.

THIS LITTLE OL' SITE HERE (http://www.hitchmagazine.com/brentwood.html) should help you with in-depth reviews of the rest of the sets.

Vault of horror is prob. the worst of the sets. House on haunted hill and Silent night, bloody night are the only good ones of it. I haven't seen Jack the ripper though. The other three sets are good except for Satans school for girls.

Assuming WOLF MAN isn't the Lon Chaney/Universal horror film, then the only one out of those DVD's that I've seen is HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, which I gave a 7/10.

SCREAM OF THE WOLF
WOLF MAN
MOON OF THE WOLF - I've actually been looking for this on VHS..
anyways, it looks like a lot of fun

SNOWBEAST -

SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT

DONT LOOK IN THE BASEMENT - Classsssic drive in flick featuring some of the most convincing NUTBARS in the world.. Cheap, entertaining.. I've seriously watched this flick about eight zillion times and it never gets old. 8/10

JACK THE RIPPER - I'm assuming this is the Jesus Franco version with Klaus Kinski. errrrrrm, its okay. Verrry little gore (there's a surgery scene...) and I'm willing to bet you got an edited version - Its a twist on the story: told from the killer's POV, which was cool. 5/10

SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA - I've read that this is compleeeeeeeeeeeetely different from Lee's other Dracula flicks.. its supposed to play out like a murder mystery, which I'd like to see

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL - "How verry.. amusing." Classic. 10/10

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD - :) 10/10

TALES OF TERROR
----------------------------------------
DEEP RED, THE HATCHET MURDERS - A cut version of the Argento flick. I forget the running time, but I believe this is subtitled. 10/10

CHRISTMAS EVIL - Crap.. 2/10

WEB OF THE SPIDER
CIRCUS OF FEAR

HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK - Deodato (cannibal Holocaust)'s take on "Last House" and it even borrows its lead, David Hess. Errrrmmmm, you mayyyy have an edited version (although it wasn't as graphic as I had expected). Classsssic ending! 7/10

MESSIAH OF EVIL
DIE, SISTER, DIE!
LADY FRANKENSTEIN
THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE WOMAN
SISTERS OF DEATH

FRIGHT NIGHT
---------------------------------------
KILL BABY KILL - Mediocre Bava flick, chaulk full o' cool atmosphere and a lot of really nice sets. 6/10

DEVIL'S NIGHTMARE - Plays like a supppernatural slasher - A bunch of tourists wind up stranded in a castle with a "succubus".. A woman who feeds off people who sin. Italian, terrrible acting/dubbing. Feel free to post and explain the BIZARRRE freaking ending after you've seen it. worthwhile.. 5/10

GOD TOLD ME TO - I neeed to see this.. its supposed to be good.

GOOD AGAINST EVIL

PIECES - Cheap-o horror comedy(and it IS actually really funny) with a whole lot of bad bit actors.. everyone's a suspect, everyone's braindead.. You'll definitely get a kick out of this one.
7/10

KISS ME KILL ME - WEIRD fucking gaillo about a sexy photographer who meets a verry interested lesbian philanthropist....... who just happens to be into S&M and witchcraft.. EURRRRO TRASSSSSSSH. I like it! (that fucking doll!) 5/10

SATANS SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE
CATHYS CURSE
THE GHOST

HORROR CLASSICS
---------------------------------------
HORROR HOTEL
BUCKET OF BLOOD
THE DEVILS HAND
I BURY THE LIVING

DONT LOOK IN THE BASEMENT - very suprising film, the title has nothing to do with the movie, but it's still a fun little romp.

JACK THE RIPPER - awful movie, bad dubbing too

SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA - decent Hammer Dracula sequel, it's the only one I've seen except HORROR OF DRACULA.

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL - fun and campy but not a personal favorite of mine.

CIRCUS OF FEAR - lot's of kooky characters, I remember thinking it was OK but I don't remember much from it.

HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK - standard rape movie, has the same guy from Last House on the Left playing nearly the same part, has it's moments.

Although I've also seen Night of the Living Dead, I don't think I need to go into detail about it.

I own the Tales of Terror DVD Ten Pack but I have different movies on mine:

DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT
SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA
WEB OF THE SPIDER
CIRCUS OF FEAR
HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK
JACK THE RIPPER
DIE, SISTER DIE!
LADY FRANKENSTEIN
THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE WOMAN
WOLF MAN

So since mine is different, does that mean there are different versions of the same title?

I believe these are the infamous Brentwood dvd collections which, I too (proudly), own. The quality on some of these reproductions aren't the greatest, but as the sets keep coming out they get better. My fave picks of the above listings:

Silent Night, Bloody Night--classy little slasher with Mary Woronov

Night of the Living Dead--'nough said

Messiah of Evil--also released originally as Dead People, a highly overlooked zombie/crazy cannibal movie

Kill, Baby, Kill--Bava at one of his best, featuring Erika Blanc as the herione

Devil's Nightmare--kind of a moralistic tale of 7 (each representing the seven deadly sins) travellers being killed in a castle by a succubus played by Erika Blanc.

God Told Me To--probably the highlight of this set due to the complexities of the plot

Bucket of Blood--by the same people who brought you the original Little Shop of Horrors.

I Bury the Living--not really horror (i.e. scary) by todays standards, but hey, Stephen King likes this one too

You definetly scored well with the Fright Night and Vault of Horror pack. All of the movies in there are classic, some classic low budget and quality, some classic high brow and quality. Very good buy. Good schmoe, good schmoe*pats schmoe on head*

Silent Night Bloody Night is a very atmospheric and creepy slasher from the 70's.
Fright Night is a cool vampire movie.
Deep Red is the best giallo from my favorite horror director Argento.

I have the Tales of Terror one, and I was very pissed off that Deep Red was edited, it's also poor picture quality. I enjoyed the movie much more when I got a better copy of it. Also, Messiah of Evil freezes up after chapter 6 on every player I've stuck it in.

I've noticed some of the other sets have almost all the movies unedited. This one only has 2 though I think. House On the Edge of the Park and one other I can't remember is unedited.

I don't think anyone's commented on this one yet. Presumably, this is the Paul Naschy film, also known as Werewolf Shadow (and a few other titles). If so, it's like a Spanish take on the style of 60's and 70's Hammer Horror - quite atmospheric and IMO a pretty good film. However, the version I have is the recent Anchor Bay release, so I don't know if the version you have is cut at all.
