The Rotating Roles of Mr. Bean...

OK, we can settle this now. First, we thought Rowan Atkinson ("Bean", "Blackadder" and "Johnny English") was to play Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I paid no attention to it.

Then, on Monday, we heard that Rowan Atkinson was to play a role in the fourth instalment. Then yesterday, The Sun said that Atkinson was playing Voldemort. I started to think about this. But now we know, (the source is Atkinson's agent) that he has not yet been cast in any role in any of the movies.

I would love to see Atkinson do a Potter film at some point, (perhaps as Ludo Bagman) but not as Voldemort. I could see it now...

HARRY- Um...Voldemort? What do I do if you hit me with Avada Kedavra?
VOLDEMORT- Well the STANDARD procedure, Potter, is to jump 700ft into the air, and scatter gore all over the place. *mumble incoherently, Bean style*

I would love to travel to a parallel universe where Rowan plays Voldemort. Assuming he had the acting chops to pull it off, I think it would actually be *more terrifying* if someone who had been associated with friendly, silly, goofy happiness in your mind was playing something so evil and heartless :)

I saw Johnny English over the weekend and I own Rat Race . Atkinson is a very funny performer for being a total dweeb. I'm not much of a Harry Potter fan, but he would definately add to that series in most any role.

That's a VERY interesting piece of potential casting. I'm not too familiar with Atkinsons dramatic roles, but I'm under the impression that he is in fact a very capable dramatic actor. Still, I can't quite see him in the role...

I wish Chevy Chase played Darth Vader. Jks lol. I think it would be cool of Rowan starred in one of the HP films but not as Voldemort. I have to agree with you there Hedwig, I like the idea of him playing Ludo Bagman.
