-------------
I don't know about this one. It has an OK cast and I like all the other action movies that Neal H. Moritz has done. But I am getting a bad vibe from this film, mainly because of the awful trailer and the numerous release dates it has gone through. I'm still unsure if I will see this or not.

It looks fast, loud, dumb, and not a movie I'd probably like, since I don't like many other Neal Moritz movies.
I'll probably still see it though
A year after the first one came out, BIKER BOYZ 2 is released ;).
Anyway, BIKER BOYZ (5/10 or C-) was pretty boring. This movie looks slightly better, but like with BB, I will just wait and see this one on video, most likely a couple of months or better after it comes out and there's absolutely nothing else to rent.
The cast isn't bad. I liked Martin Henderson in The Ring and Jay Hernandez in Crazy/Beautiful, and Jaime Pressley is easy on the eyes, even if she looks like a total bitch.

Oh, dear Lord, it's a January Movie! That's been on the shelf since last January! Do you really need to know any more? And what more lame than PG-13 action?
Maybe I already hate this movie because it replace the Last Samurai poster on the bus stop in front of my building. I'm tired of seeing it every day.

And what bugs me the most is:
Rated: PG-13 (for violence, sexuality, language and drug references)
That's the MPAA for you. Hollywood movies are graded much more leniently than indies. What else but this bias explains Lost in Translation: Rated R for some sexual content. I mean, what the fuck?!?
AND:
Running Time: 1 hour 21 minutes
How many more red flags do we need? Okay, a few more:
Starring: Max Beesley (Glitter)
Written by: Matt Johnson (debut)
Produced by: Neal H. Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, S.W.A.T., XXX), Brad Luff (Saving Silverman)
A first-time screenwriter. From the makers of The Fast and the Furious, S.W.A.T., and Saving Silverman. Featuring the co-star from Glitter. Could this movie look any worse???

This does look like a bad movie, but it could be a fun watch like S.W.A.T. I'll still skip it in theatres, though.

I'll see it. My friend and I have made a pact this year to see as many movies as humanly possible, not matter how terrible they may end up being....

I do agree with that. It's like if a movie is an indie it automatically gets slapped with an R rating. Half of them don't even deserve the R rating, and if it was a big budget Hollywood movie with a big star, they never would have gotten it. It's really not fair.

Same here. Except I made it with myself.
I'm hoping for the best from this movie. It looks stupid and cheesy, but hey....it could be a piece of crap (Family Guy joke).

Hmm.... there's quite a few 2003 films I still need to check out. And I'll be damned to hell if I waste my precious time on a boring and shitty-looking film like "Torque".

Mike, it seems like you just wait to see everything on video. I am not just referring to this, but even the films you express some interest in. Why not see more in theatres? Heck, I see at least two movies a week at the theatre. I live only five minutes from a great theatre, which may be part of the reason but if I didn't love films, it wouldn't matter.
I think it's because Mike is from Minnesota, which is hardly the first place you'll wanna look to see movies like Big Fish. I guess to see movies he's really interested in, it'd require more than a 5 minute drive, but perhaps I'm wrong

Run for your lives! It is a rip-off waltz of S.W.A.T., Fast and the Furious, and Biker Boys (with the same producers)!
And it has been pushed back for months into January!
And so many other things! RUN!

I really wanna c Torque. My dad is really into his motorcycle so I'll see it with him, and my friend is dying to see it, so I might go again. The trailer for this movie appeals to me, especially the scene where they are riding through the palm trees, it looks nicely done. My only reservation as of now is the extensive use of cgi in teh commercials. Booo.

I just saw Biker Boyz last night and I must say that the movie itself killed about half the brain cells I had left... it was horrible.
But, I think that when it comes down to it, any movie with sexy boys (Martin Henderson) and motorcycles, i'm there. I'll be seeing this in theatres. My brain might be crying out for mercy afterwards, but it will probably be worth it. :)

Looks like a good time to me. I probably will see it if I end up going to the movies for some reason. Otherwise Ill def check it out on dvd.
Scarface, you're right. I go an hour to go to the theater, which is why I don't see more in theaters. It has to be one I'm dying to see or one that friends really want to see and want me to go with in order for me to go. Although my friends don't go to the movies that much either. If I lived close to a theater, believe me, I'd go much more, but that's sadly not the case. Now I only see what I want to see very badly in theaters, the rest I see on video. I must admit, it's not that horrible though, since if I saw everything in theaters I wouldn't have much to see on video, which would blow.

I have seen TORQUE...a few comments about the film:
1. Jamie Pressley need to play cool as hell biker chicks all the time, SHE SO FREAKIN' HOT
2. That was the most ridiculous ending i have ever seen to a movie EVER...and this is coming from the kid who breathes ridiculous, yeah i said it! (HE SAID IT)
3. Sportsbikes are cool
4. girlfights rule
5. bad acting is now a new artform
6. I guess bad scripts are also
7. Monet Mazur is my new obsession (she's the blonde)
8. Ice Cube, brotha u got some skills, stay away from this
9. I bet this was better than BIKER BOYZ (although they spell boys with a z & they did have Kid Rock)
10. If u have seen Big Fish & Kill Bill & LOTR ROTK & The Last Samuari & Chaper By The Dozen then go see this

Torque * * 1/2
Definately a guilty pleasure. It's not exactly a good movie, the acting isn't exactly of the highest caliber (although lead Martin Henderson is charismatic and shows promise of possibly being a decent actor and the actress who plays his girlfriend ain't bad either and HOT!) and some of the characters do some REALLY stupid things! (I'm particularly thinking about that dumb ass FED after Henderson) Still this I can't deny that this movie was an entertaining blast with some kick ass, albiet absurd action sequences (that scene where they ride their motorcycles on top of the moving train had me laughing my ass off!). That's all I really have to say about it. I liked the two Fast and Furious movies alot more but this one delivers on it's own terms as well.

I have to disagree with you ilovemovies, I thought Torque was awful, I can't believe I wasted $6 on it.
First, who wrote the dialogue, I've read highschool editorials that had more flo than that script.
It did have SOME cool stunts, but weird camera angles and editing made it flash past your eyes in 1.5 seconds. I was getting dizzy. Also, I almost walked out from so much 'CGI-make-the-movie-look-like-fast and furious-crap'. I mean, in this case less would have been more.
-1 stars.
**SPOILERS** The best part of the movie is when Ford says, "I live my life a quarter-mile at a time." And then Shane says, "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard." **SPOILERS**

i agree with red whispers sentiments.
SPOILERS------------------------------
pros------
hot girls
2 chuckles
a couple cool stunts cgi
cons--------------
dialogue! ("you forgot to pay for the gas" "can i have frys with that")
everybody was too cool for school
ludicrous and boring action
no story
felt like i was watching a music video
"acting"
dircetion (music video director, go figure)
generic races
wasted roles (christina milian, cops, bad guys)
no character developement
PREDICTABLE
UNBELIEVABILITY (the girls bike duel had my jaw on the floor)
the cop turn was weak (and the actor sucked)
the ending looked like a video game. it was horrendous
and the cardinal sin of this type of film, it wasn't fun or entertaining.
and redwhisper, i was getting ready to blast it for that quarter mile line, but monets line saved that. it knew it was dumb
END OF SPOILERS-----------------
it wasnt even "fun bad" it was just horrible
the longest 82 minutes of my life. i seriously wanted to walk out, but i dont do that. hell, i liked both fast and furious' (both ***) and thought biker boyz was just mediocre (**) but this was HORRIBLE
1/2 * out of ****
not a good way to start the year
to end it on a good not, monet mazur and jaime pressly are hot.

I saw a clip on THE SHARON OSBOURNE SHOW, and surprisingly, it was an action scene, but managed to seem extremely dull and boring. Seriously, the scene couldn't have been less exciting. The action looks so fucking boring.

I will agree the movie is bad. But to me it was so bad it was good.
The dialogue was bad. The lines that they spitted out had me loooking to floor in shame. Then you have the action scenes. I did like most of them simply because i know there i no way it would ever be done.
One problem I have with action films are when the scenes are so obviously set up. Take a couple scenes...in which..home made looking ramps are in the middle of nowhere. *caugh* train scene*caugh*. Just a little rant sorry.
Then you have the twist which couldn't have been more obvious from the get go.
The movie was horrible but decent at the same time.

I saw a clip on TRL the other day and I must say that it was by far one of the stupidest 'action' scenes I've ever seen in my entire life.
*MINOR SPOILER*
Something about riding on top of a train and then dropping down into the train and speeding through the asle...? Some of the worst CGI shit I've seen in awhile.
*END SPOILER*
Oh my God, it was horrible.... ::shudder:: And then, the worst part, Martin Henderson actually was able to show his face after the clip ended and say how the movie is so cool and whatnot. BE REALISTIC MAN! :)

TORQUE was a fun movie, plain and simple. It is filled with a lot of bad acting, cheesy special effects, a loud soundtrack, everything a bad movie is made of. But the movie actually becomes entertaining because of all the cliches and makes for an entertaining, if forgettable time at the theaters. Most of it is ripped off from the likes of such films as The Fast & The Furious and Biker Boyz (which were both better), but if you enjoyed those films, it is likely you will enjoy this one.
