I love Disney and all, but this movie looks embarrassingly bad, with awful animation and poor musical numbers/comedic humor. I will be skipping this one.

Saw the awful, grating trailer.

Please shoot me.

I saw the trailer on Coming Attractions on E!, and man does it look AWFUL! I mean REALLY, REALLY, REALLY AWFUL! I'm not one to make fun of a movie like this just because it's a kids flick, so I'm not just saying this to try and be like everyone else.

It's certainly one of the worst trailers I've ever seen. I can't imagine anyone thinking it looks good. I know this won't do very well in theaters, I just know it. I will not be seeing this one in theaters or on video. I won't say NEVER though, because you can never say you'll NEVER see a movie, since there's many ways you'd see something you don't want to see. There's if you were offered a bunch of money and it was right in front of your face, if someone you really, really liked wanted to see it and asked you to see it with them, if you got amnesia and couldn't remember not wanting to see it :D, etc.... If Anna Faris asked me to see it with her, do you think I'd say no? Hell no! If Anna Faris asked me to do something incredibly sadistic, like watch a LOTR movie the whole way through with her without stopping it for one second, I'd do it :D. So, I won't say I'll NEVER see it, but, without me getting anything out of the deal, I can safely say that I don't PLAN on ever seeing it ;).

Hell, this movie has an even shorter running time than I thought. The correct running time according to the IMDB is...

1 hour 8 minutes

Yep, you read right. A little over an hour.

And credits are probably about 4 minutes...

So, that's worth about three episodes or less of the show without commercial interruption. Whoopity-do.

They should make it a law that every "feature" film released should be at least 90 minutes long, not counting credits.

Musicals suck, and so does this cartoon. Why is it that Disney tries to capitalize on its Saturday morning cartoons but always seems to fail? What next, a Darkwing Duck movie?

And according to some sites this T.V. show was cancelled two years ago.

Will three year olds still remember this?

The cartoon is stupid, the movie is short and is supposed to be somewhat of a musical. It really can't get much worse...

This show couldn't even hack it on One Saturday Morning, for Jolly Gee sakes. This will bomb, big time.

I was thinking maybe this could surprise and actually get good reviews, since it was something that looked so bad, and movies like that usually end up surprising and getting good reviews. Well, it looks like I was right, so far the reviews are very good. I still don't want to see it though.

There are 4 reviews on RT, all positive. Still from smaller reviewers, though.

I've seen others around the net though, and so far, things are looking pretty good for it, well, as far as reviews go. I doubt it will connect with audiences, since most think it looks dumb.

Agreed. Plus, Disney can be stalling the bad reviews. I just don't see this getting away with such great reviews. Freaky Friday was a fluke, I don't see the same thing happening in just 5 months.

Nathan Lane is the only strong link here, but I don't see myself going to the theater and be surrounded by little kids.
Very wait for video title for me....

Well, with 22 FRESH and only 4 ROTTEN, I'd say it's highly unlikely this will end up rotten. The critics have spoken, and it looks like this one is a winner. Of course, it's a winner that I still don't have interest in seeing. MAYBE I'll give it a shot on video, MAYBE.

Friday's numbers are in-Number 14 with only 484,000 yes it's official this movie is dead.

Maybe it will be a cult hit now once it hits video ;). I think I will probably see it on video now. I feel kind of bad for it. Maybe they should have done a limited release thing with this one, starting out in like 2 theaters in NY/LA and slowly expanding, relying on WOM.

thompsoncory

Nah, this wouldn't have done well in limited release. It is an animated movie that seems to appeal to only the smallest of children, and those are never quite successful. Plus, a lot of the moviegoing audience thought it looked terrible, and animated films almost NEVER do well on video. There is no way Disney can make a profit from this. The only good thing it can hope for now is a huge bump for Saturday and Sunday, which it will probably get due to more children being out of school. I'm predicting $1 million today and $0.8 million tomorrow.

You're kidding, right?

After the shockingly good reviews, my curiousity is...should I say it, starting to float on it.

I can't believe I said that.

There will actually be people(not many mind you) that will spend upwards of nine dollars at AMC or Regal to take their kids to this train wreck of a flick.

I could just spend one hour sticking my finger down my throat and save the nine bones.

Mike

Actually, this will definitely make a profit through purchases. Animated flicks usually don't do well in rentals, but it will make its money back for sure through purchases. Plus, a lot of parents will just buy it for their kids, even without seeing it. They'll be in the store, and think "Oh, there's a new Disney movie, the kids would probably like it and it will keep them in front of the TV, I'll buy it."

I still disagree though. This would have done better in a limited release starting in the big cities. The reviews and WOM would have helped it. And also, I think it seems like more of an adult humor laced animated flick. But it's supposed to be entertaining for the kids too.

Let me say this:

I`ve seen LOTS of these kids cartoons, my two-year old wakes up early every morning and we usually watch kid`s shows on TV.

Having said that, the "Teacher`s Pet" TV show was one of the WORST I`ve ever seen. It was really, really dull. The characters weren`t memorable, it wasn`t funny, and it dragged.
The whole story is that this kid has a dog (who doesn`t look like a dog at all, more like some kind of blue trollish creature) who talks. So the kid dresses-up the "dog" and brings it to school with him.

The animation sucks, it`s really ugly and hard to look at.

I cannot believe Disney made a full-length [that`s debatable] theatrical movie out of this!
This is even worse than when they made a movie of "Doug"!

Don't diss Doug's First Movie, that was the shiznit!

Teacher's Pet was a crappy cartoon on the Disney Channel, so I won't be seeing the movie even though it has recieved good reviews.

I'm seeing it tomorrow afternoon at the cheap theater. I think I might actually like this a bit now that I know more about it and the reviews have been alright. And besides, it's a 2004 movie, so I should at least try and see it, I don't think it'll be sold out. ;)

I said I was looking forward to this somewhat, but why? It was beyond awful...too awful for words. The humor was the only good thing about it, it made me chuckle a few times, honestly, the funnier thing happened on my way home when a truck was carrying a mattress and it just flew off and landed it the snow, that made me laugh. lol. But this movie was basically just forgetable, and I really wouldn't waste your time on it if I were you. I try and give movies a chance, but it's movies like this that make me re-consider. It was just bad. I don't plan on seeing it again. Honestly, it did start out good, hell, the first half was almost great 8/10 (B+), but then the other half went way down hill, and I just couldn't talk it. I was thinking, "is this really the same movie?"

4/10 (D+)
