Actress Christina Applegate Among Potential Blake Jurors
Actor Shearer Also Considered, But Cut After First Round
POSTED: 3:38 p.m. EST January 9, 2004
Former "Married With Children" star Christina Applegate could help decide Robert Blake's fate.
According to the New York Daily News, Applegate made the first cut after potential jurors were interviewed in Van Nuys, Calif., for the actor's murder trial this week.
Blake is accused of murdering his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, on May 4, 2001, outside a Studio City, Calif., restaurant.
Jury selection began without public notice Monday and news of it didn't break until early Friday.
Also in the first pool of potential jurors was Harry Shearer, the improvisational comedy actor who has starred in comedy-style documentaries "This is Spinal Tap" and "A Mighty Wind," and who voices several roles for "The Simpsons."
According to the Daily News, Shearer got off of jury duty by saying he was under contract to do his voices for "The Simpsons."
Shearer said Applegate "was not overjoyed to be called back."
Applegate's manager said the actress that she'll probably use the same type of argument as Shearer to be excused.
