Have any of you ever been faced with the problem of having a completed script except for the first few pages? My script kind of has the same format as movies like Go, Pulp Fiction and Love actually. Intertwining charachters that are all unconciously affecting eachother.
The concept I am going for is to get the audience to ask themselves if it is better to extremely let your loved ones down, or to become a criminal there by hurting other people. Those are the only 2 options you have in the scenario faced. How far should you go in order to provide a better life for your daughter in a city victimized by counter-urbanization that leaves no jobs?
My problem is that I feel my opening scene is too violent, but it calls for it. I do not want to portray my charachters as violent people from the get go because they are doing it out of necessity. Something that I noticed some writers do is they open with a scene that happens later in the film to first introduce their charachters human side. Bla, bla, bla. I don't even know what I'm asking. It's my problem. I'll figure it out, although, if any of you have the slightest clue what I'm talking about and may have faced a similiar problem your feedback would be highly appreciated.
