Hi Everyone
I am writing a book. It is based on the fact that i have come up with many ideas for movies, and wrote a few scripts, yet find it impossible to get anything even looked at - it would be niced to get something looked at even if it was just going to get turned down, at least that would be a step forward.
Anyway i know fropm looking at other people on Joblo that loads of you have had ideas or wrote scripts for films and not got any attention, or feel like trying to get attention is just a waste on energy and to hard to achieve.
So i am asking to talk to any of you woh has had a good idea for a film but been overlooked. I will write about it, with the intention of ending the book with a writers/filmmakers conference which will feature anyone who contributes to the book and anyone else who is struggling to get attention to there ideas/work, where we will put our ideas/wrok on show en mass in the hope of finally getting at least one or two of us acknowledged by a studio.
Hope you can help and have some stories, and would be willing to be part of the confernece.
Cheers youths.
Dave

It sounds absolutely impossible, but good luck :)

How much would they have to pay you to get published in your book? To go to your conference? I'd be very skeptical about this sort of thing.

No one would pay anything. I guess youd have to pay to travel to the conference but nothing else. I just want to talk to people about ideas they had that they couldnt get made. Im not tryin to screw people out of money or steal their ideas. The conference at the end is intended to help them.
If im honest i havnt actualy got a publishing deal yet for the book, or a title, but i have met a publisher who will take it if its good.
Although these books have nothing to do with my book, it am hoping to write them in a similar style to the books "Are You Dave Gorman?", "Join Me" and "Googlewhack Adventure". If your interested in those youd have to look on Amazon or something.
I hope there are people with stories out there, and in turn i hope i can help them.

There are enough failed filmmakers to fill a phone book.

Never going to happen. A producer won't look at a book, read about how some kid wasn't good enough to make it big, and then decide to give him work out of pity.

Far be it from me to discourage someone from doing something silly, but the problem here is you're approaching the book as an unproduced writer, which means you probably have no idea how the film industry works or why it is you weren't able to get anyone to read your script (or how to change that). In effect, it would be like Fat Albert writing a diet book...
Without getting too into it, ideas are a dime a dozen. That's not what we buy. We buy stories. It's a big difference.
In any event, good luck with the book.

Thats a good point, which is why i mentioned the 3 books above. You see, this is meant to be non fiction, but its not supposed to be something about why myself and others dont understand the industy enough to get noticed.
Its just supposed to humorously look at some of the dieas that never get made. Lets face it their are enough ideas that would make it funny. I admit a lot of my ideas would make it funny because they sound stark raving mental, and thats why they never get made.
So thats what im looking for - not so much peoples ideas but peoples daftest ideas.
And yes, there are loads out there, just nobody ever admits to thme, although their are probably a few on this board i can explore.
Also, the publisher who is interested published those other 3 books i mentioned, which is why im sure this book can be a success.
One last thing - i imagine if anything that anyone who contributes could be entitled to money off me if the book is published, never mind them pay me as was mentioned earlier. Please help if any of you can. They dont even have to be ideas you seriously made up, just your idea of what the most unmakinably crazy film you can think of would be.
Cheers

The way I would do a book like this would be to compile wacky ideas that almost got made or that were seriously considered by Hollywood. That would be a more interesting read to me.

That reminds me of another book. It's about actors who almost got roles that eventually went to Jack Nicholson. It's called "If the other guy isn't Jack Nicholson, I've got the part!" ...Or something along the lines of that.

thats along the lines of what im after, kind of tounge in cheek style.
The only prob is i really want people to throw suggestions for weird movies at me, rather then just sit and make a load up myself and then claim in the book they were from other people.
So can anybody help? Just wacky ideas for films, good or bad, for me to write in my book. Also i would be happy to talk to people about there fav films etc for the book as well so i contrast them against the crazy ideas.
I want it to be as legitimate but as humrous as i can make.
Cheers for that Jack Nicholson thing as well thats got the kind of weird title that i'd like for my book.
Anyway, as ever all help would be appreciated. Thanks
Dave
