I can go on with ideas.....here are some

1) A talk show host does very incredably stupid/weird things to boost his ratings, but when a show that involves people facing their fears for $500,00, he must do the dumbest/funniest things ever on t.v to boost his ratings.

2) a 15 year old and his friend go out to see a new movie they have been waiting to see, but then on the way there they get jumped by 5 older men, one of the kids takes a gun from 1 and shoots his friend and one of the muggers, the 4 remaining men then kidnap the 15 year old and hold him for ransom, but the men then beat thye boy on a regular basis, if he screws up he gets his ass beat, they get money nfrom his parents, but then refuse to give the son back, during this time the 15 year old suffers extreme guilt for shooting his friend..

I dont understand what kind of plot there would be in that... can you give an example of the dummest/funniest thing ever on tv he will do to boost his rating?

Yes. I would agree. What you posted isnt a stroy, its barely an idea. What it is is an inciting incident - the catalyst fro drama. Figure some more stuff out before persuing this AT ALL;

About idea #1 -- it's too topical. Today it's relevant because of all the stupid reality TV shows, but in a year or two there's no telling if they'll still be "in", and if people will care. That means this would have to go into production now, and unless you can go into a pitch by next week, I wouldn't waste my time on it.

That said, I also don't think it's that great an idea. Sorry.

#2 doesn't make any sense to me. What's the point?
