I love with a passion the film Blood Simple. I feel its the Coens best drama effort and comes off as quite creepy. But when I picked up the special edition DVD, I thought i was in for a treat. Boy, was I wrong. First, before the film, we get some "film historian" ranting about the movie (okay, I know its good, thats why i bought it) and then he tells me how they "took out the boring stuff" and "added some new material". Now new materials all good and well, but took out the boring stuff??? I didnt find one minute of the theatrical Blood Simple cut boring.
ANYWAYS: They totally changed the begining and end scenes (different song, different title sequence) and the so-called new footage was just boring scenes of the characters moping around and I can see why the Coens took it out it the first place.
This is a perfect example of why movies should never be changed, and just given to us as they were made.

I remember listening to it and laughing my ass off. Then heard that it was supposed to be fake. Got mad. Thought for a second, "it's supposed to be the Coen Bros." And started laughing again.

I believe this is a "directors cut", so blame the Coen's for the new version. I never saw the theatrical release version, but the story on the DVD seems pretty cool to me.
