The movie at my Blockbuster that has been there for years (must get some rentals... Leprechaun isn't there anymore, this is). It has the little basket on the front, with probably a baby in it.

lol, I've never seen this trash, but I always see the video cover in the horror section with the stroller sitting on the beach.
I've always wondered what it was like.

KingOfMasks, you're thinking of the third installment, Island of the Alive.
Penut, It's Alive is surprisingly strong with focused performances and many social undercurrents. The cheese is ambrosial, but it's tackled in a solemn, low-key manner. It's definitely worth a rental. Read Arrow's review for added incentive to check it out.

"It's Alive" is pretty good for a cheesy horror flick. Twisted concept of a killer infant. There are a couple of nasty kills, but nothing too graphic. Rick Baker's effects are , well, not great as the infant monster is a puppet on a string. Decent atmosphere and not too bad acting with a little social commentary thrown in.
I am still waiting for the DVD. They don't make 'em like this anymore. For fans of movies like "Basket Case" and the like.
recommended rental.

Well thanks Count and xlr8r.
Lots of help. I know there are more to ask about, and I will later when I get back from Blockbuster.

It's Alive, is about Frank and Lenore Davies, who are expecting a baby. After going to the hospital they find out that the baby is missing and something chewed through the umbilical cord. Many of the doctors and staff of the hospital are dead and people in the street are also dying with the same injuries as the people in the hospital so Frank, and the police go out searching for the baby which is believed to be a mutant. A good cult horror for fans of films like Dead Alive that is meant just for a fun time like when it was watched at the drive in theatre. Oddly enough even after receiving a PG rating in America, It's Alive, was banned in Finland.

well, I thought the movie sucked. it was boring and had a bad plot(a baby killer, WTF!!)
I rented it from blockbuster about 2 years ago. the rating on the side said PG, but the rating on the actual movie said R.

The film is rated PG in America. Although it is 18 in the United Kingdom.

I really liked this movie. Some might consider it "boring" but it is a little deeper and the acting is much better than your standard cheesefest. The baby/creature is somewhat laughable, but you dont see it all that often, so it doesn't detract too much from the movie. It may prove to be a little different than what you might expect, but it is enjoyable.

Thanks for the link countchocula. That was cool. I also recently heard rumours that Larry Cohen wants to remake It's Alive! and would once again be directing it. I hope the It's Alive! films are released on DVD soon. It'd be cool if they were released together in a collection. For awhile both It's Alive and It Lives Again! came in a box set.

I agree. Cheap effects and a cheesy seeming plot but lots of serious undertones...not to mention the mood comes off dark. I enjoyed it myself. The 3rd, Island of its alive, was pretty....well, if I remember right not as enjoyable :p Michael Moriarity is good though. Cant remember much on the 2nd although I did see it.

Warner Bros. will be releasing the original onto DVD soon. I'm fairly certain that Cohen recorded a commentary for it (or that he will be in the near future). I wouldn't mind a redux if Cohen was behind the wheel. Obviously, the effects could use a good polish, not that advanced technology justifies a remake.

I don't know if I'd see the It's Alive remake. If it is done by Larry Cohen then I probably will because I do like his style. I just hope they don't over Hollywood it.
