Granted, the differences are nugatory, but it's worth asking which is the preferred version as perceived by the schmoes. Since I dug all of the supplementary scenes in The Director's Cut, I'm going with it. An already matchless film, now with more coolness!

Director's Cut. The reveal of the cocoon scene was definitely a money shot besides the last supper.

There's hardly any difference, but I'll go with the director's cut just for the cuccoon scene towards the end.

Theatrical Version because the Director's Cut (which it isn't because Ridley prefers the original version compared to it) seemed a little to fast paced. I loved the slow moving feel of the original. It built up the atmosphere and tension in the film.

I like the directors cut a little more.

I couldn't vote, as I have not yet seen the Director's Cut.
Does anyone know the DVD release date? I found no info via NetFlix.

It's included in the Alien Quadrilogy and was also released separately.

So if I purchase the quadrilogy, I will see the exact same version of ALIEN that was released theatrically in 2003?
I just want to be 100% sure before I blow my bucks.

Yep. It includes both the original theatrical cut and the spiffed-up director's cut.

I am going to say....the theatrical version. although Scott's spiffed up director's cut is indeed a dream come true (too bad i couldn't catch it on the big screen), i grew up with the original theactrical version and therefore it adheres more to my "Alien" loving heart.

I'd say the Director's Cut, I never got to see the original theatrical version in theaters, so that might have something to do with it.
:D

DON'T FUCK WITH THE ORIGINAL!
Leave well enough alone!
The theatrical version rules!

So I take it you didn't enjoy the director's cut?
