Poker is growing on me like a bad fungus. I love to watch it on TV every chance I get, and just recently I joined an interactive poker room, and have been playing there, constantly.

I love the aspect of not knowing what your opponents have, and not knowing if your hand is better.

What about you schmoes? Any love for poker?

I love playing poker.

I've never seen the World Series of Poker on TV but from what I saw of it in from the movie Rounders (great fuckin' movie) it looks like a very fun watch.

Me and my friends have games once in a while. I'm an above average player, IMO. We had a game a few months back and I was the big winner.

We had another game last night and I lost 20$. :(

Hell yeah, good topic Jerk.:D I've been playing just a friendly low stakes game the last few Saturdays afternoons. Me and some friends get together and just play a ten dollar buy in and have a Texas hold 'em tourney with chips we divide up.

I used to play in higher stakes games when I was younger, but it seems I just dont have the kahunas for it anymore. I used to like to roll dice too, now that is fast money let me tell you.

I watch the World Series of Poker sometimes, but I like the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel, it is much better. The announcers just crack me up, they act as if it is the most exciting thing they have ever witnessed in their lives.:D Great stuff. It amazes me how these pro's seem to always know what their opponent has and when to lay down. I guess that is why they are pros.

Good men!

On the topic, I like the World Series of Poker better than the WPT on Travel Channel. The camera angles are better, and they give you the percentages of who's more likely to win.

Just the other day I saw the championship, where a guy named Chris Moneymaker won 2.5 million in cash! Cash!

Boy, gotta love cash!

Yes, I heard about that! I love the fact that his name is Moneymaker - too cool! :D

2.5 million, whew! Those guys have nerves of steel, well I shouldn't leave the girls out, there are some really top quality women players too. Just yesterday I watched a rerun of the World Poker Tour and this very prim and proper 60 year old English grandmother got to the final table, it was pretty cool, she hung right in there and got 4th place out of 177. She wouldn't be pushed around!:) These are reruns that I've seen before, but I heard the new season is in production and will start being shown in a couple months.

Do any of you play poker online? I never have but a friend of mine who doesn't have internet comes over all the time and plays on my computer. I don't think it would as fun as playing against acutal live people, but it's good practice.

Poker is the dimebag, No Limit Texas Hold Em is the only way to go though. I dont like any of the other forms of the game.

You guys are novices, Monkeymaker is a household name. Lets not forget Tiger Woods of poker Phil Ivey, Bratboy Phil Helmuth and the all mighty Johnny Chan.

Let's not forget my personal favorite, Howard Ledderer.

I am an avid poker fan. I dont know much about the game outside of your standard 5 card and dueces wild. There are a slew of cool interactive games out there on the net.

I was also lucky enough to get 3 black jacks in a row my last trip to a casino. of course, I gave all that back pretty quickly!!

Yeah, and he earned a spot in the tournament by winning a different online tournament. So he's just some regular schmoe playing some online poker one day, $2.5 M richer the next. Gives hope to the rest of us.

I am scared to play online poker. I already have enough trouble getting anything done at work. And playing poker on my credit cards is a horrible idea.

I play a lot though with friends, usually at least once every couple of weeks. Good games, mostly low stakes stuff though.

I am planning on hosting a poker tournament sometime in the next few months. Probably a $100 buy-in ($20 will go to food and beer). Should be a lot of fun. I just have to wait until I move, so that I have enough room (I just signed on a condo last night, I am now a landowner!)

Here's a very cool interactive Poker Room I joined. You can play with real or play money. I'm signed on as Jerk Morrison, so if you ever see me - let's play a round.

I'm a huge poker fan, Rounders is one of my fav. movies ever. I always watch the WSOP repeats and WPT shows, fav. players are Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, and T.J. Cloutier. No Limit Hold 'Em is the best poker game by far IMO but I also enjoy Omaha from time to time. I play online at Pokerstars (the play where '03 WSOP Champ Moneymaker plays at and endorses)...just play in the freeroll tourneys and for play money though, I'd never play for real $$$ over the net. Got a big $150 buy-in NLHE tourney this weekend over at a buddies' house, gonna be a lot of people playing. If anyone else plays on Pokerstars...look me up, my SN is Toad Cochran.

If anyone lives in the Toronto region, they are going to start showing some new Poker series on Sundays. I didn't get all the details, but it is the first poker series I have ever seen consistent commercials for, so it is probably a large one.

also, this isn't all that interesting, but my friend was telling me about Ben Affleck showing up with J.Lo on some series he saw. Not the World Series, some other big-name one. He payed the 10,000dollar entry fee or whatever, and joined it.

He lost. lol (friggin celebrities)

I like the Finnish amateur. I forget his name, though. You know which one I mean if you've seen him, and the blonde chick too.

Hold 'Em poker is definitely the best poker game. I play it on yahoo every now and then, fun stuff. Rounders will make pretty much anybody a poker fan, what a flick.

norton was on a charity game and got second place, he had a full house and lost it. unreal. played good tho.
