i recently got the Media Blasters Uncut version of Ichi the Killer, the first disc i sent back due to a problem at the end of the film (around the 124 minute mark) where the film jumps back a few seconds. the replacement disc i got also has this so my first question is this a problem with the source print?
my second question regards the beginning of the film, on my new disc during the scene with all the gansters the image pauses and the colour goes brown, this happens a couple of times but i didnt notice this on my previous disc. is this normal in the film?
thanks for the help
My disc doesn't have a "jump back" it has a bit of a jump in one scene, but it's hardly noticeable, and I assumed it was just part of the film.

its not exactly a jump, the time isnt effected, i played it slowly and it jumps back, freezes for a few frames with messed up colours and then resumes
is this what yours also has?
also does your disc have the odd pauses at the beginning with the picter going brown?
My disc definitely doesn't change colors at all throughout the disc.
I don't know what to tell you, man. It could be one of those things where certain discs just don't work on your machine (it happened to me with the Rebecca:CC disc I had: didn't work on my DVD player at all). Try using the disc on your computer or a friend's player to see if it work's there.

If the 1st thing you're talking about is a shot of blondie jumping back towards a mesh fence while being attacked by ichi, then every copy has distortion there- you can actually see that scene included on one of the docus. on the dutch 2nd disc and it has it there too. I can't remember about the beginning but I'd guess every copy does what yours is doing- Miike likes doing shit like this- there are weird distorted scenes in Ley Lines and andromedia too.
