Just by glancing at it I'd say its legit. It sounds like the usual studio marketing/public relationship crap work they have slave labor... I mean, interns... do.

That said, you could just check Time Warner's own website to see about job openings. This particular opening doesn't seem to exist, btw, but that might just mean it's been filled.

They're getting people to do some of the medium lifting for them for next to nothing. It's not a horrible gig, I suspect, particularly if what interests you is movie marketting. I mean, if you saw yourself getting into acquisitions and distribution, and wanted to work for somebody in those capacities, this might be a way to help get your foot in the door.

(At the very least, youd have one or two people you could impress to hope they'd remember you a few years down the road. Careers have started from less).

But...

It's marketting. It's the business of films, not the art of making them, and therefore I'm not sure how useful it would be to somebody who's goal was to be a screenwriter and/or director.

But that's just my $.02. Others may disagree.

I'm going to mildly disagree for a couple of reasons.

First, I think that there's a value in people interested in getting into the creative side of filmmaking to get some exposure and understanding of the business side of things. Understanding how films are marketed, who they're marketed to, or how films are tracked can be very insightful. Understanding marketability can help a writer not only create a stronger script, but it can also help them avoid engaging material that in a way that's not market compatible.

Second, you're still getting involved in the film business, and meeting people with at least moderately similar interests to your own. Better yet, these people you're working with can go on to be the next marketing VPs or producers or tomorrow, which may prove useful for you as a writer/director.

Finally, you're actually doing something, which is better than nothing.

Now, I know that in PM I've given adam here a long list of other avenues a person interesting in getting into film could pursue (such as getting involved in local theatre), but for whatever reason those didn't take. Okay, whatever. This is better than sitting around and eating Cheetos.

Oh no they took, but Texas, rather surprisingly, isnt a film or even theatre hot spot anymore.

The real reason im interested in this job is that is really the ONLY thing ive found in Texas near where i live. Frm online searches anyway.
