I wouldn't bank on this ever happening.
Thankfully.

Good Lord, do not let this happen. The trilogy was to be the rise and fall of Michael Corleone and let's keep it that way!
lol, sorry didnt know this was such a sensitive subject. :D

No, I *love* the Godfather series and don't want them bastardizing it with a terrible unnecessary fourth addition.
Leave the series be!

GF3 was supposedly the end of the series but someone has a #4 a book publishing company who supposedly has the copyrights I forget whom... From what I last heard Paramount who did the first 3 was gonna pass and even Francis is steering away also. I heard its gonna be a prequel to Andy Garcia who was in GF3 was intrested in reprising his role. I will check it out if and when it comes out. I am not gonna cross my fingers for it. :D

This has been a rumour for almost ten years now. It'll never happen, and if it does...I'll most likely be dead.

Well, I don't know how fair your comment is, considering you've only seen the original.
But I do agree! :)

Early last year i started another thread on this (dont worry about it) after i read in an Austrlian paper that a script was being made but not for use straight away. Thats all i can remember from it, and yes Leo was still linked somehow with it. He's not a bad actor, but i dotnt hink he would be right for the part or any part in a mob movie unless hes some pointles dude he gets beat the shit out of:p

From what I understand, they were planning on making a fourth Godfather at some point, but the whole thing was scrapped after the death of Mario Puzo (who coscripted each entry, as well as the original novel).
and the last thing we need is a Godfather flop from some movie studio buff.

Personally, I hope this never happens... the 3rd kinda fell off a little as it is. Doing a 4th one just for the sake of doing one is never a good idea, not to mention that all the creative genious behind the original series think this is pretty much a bad idea and won't be involved. Best to leave well enough alone on this one IMO.

I agree with Slim... Making a 4th GF film just wouldn't make any sense.

The rumoured premise for the 4th film was going to be following Santino (James Caan) as a kid. It would have been kickass to see Scott Caan play his father's part intertwined with Andy Garcia's character taking over the business from Michael.

Don Corleone has to speak on this subject. The first two movies are milestones of movie making, with the second being a bona fide classic.
The third installment was a fitting ending, with Michael Corleone losing that which was most dear to him. The story is over.
Just like with the fourth Alien movie, which should have never happened, you could only ruin this brilliant trilogy...
