Embrace the bad news (http://aint-it-cool.com/display.cgi?id=16896)
Must we be subjected to the Pepsi Pop Tart as the world famous Superman heroine? Depp is a good actor, but would be a huge mis cast as a villain in this type of movie. Opinions about this news/rumor?

If this is for real they might as well cast Hulk Hogan as Supes for all the loyalty their showing to the source material...

I think they're trying to destroy the character of Super-man for future generations.

I think they should be shot.
No trial.
No jury.
Straight to execution.
Fuck you in your evil over-bloated corporate arses WB.

Thankfully, according to http://www.superherohype.com/superman/index.php?id=761 that rumor is completely false. In fact, they claim Depp is being considered for Jor-el.

If Beyonce Knowles is cast as Lois Lane, i will boycott the film. Simple as that. WB is going to ruin Superman completely.
We are going to get a kick-ass Batman film and a shit Superman film. How sad.

Indeed, except I blame McG. The man's been on board twice, and both times he's had even worse ideas than J. Abrams ad Brett Ratner put together.
JESUS CHRIST, STUDIO EXECS, CHARLIES ANGELS 2 SUCKED, ALL MCG CAN DO IS SHOOT 80-MINUTE LONG MUSIC VIDEOS WITH ROCK BLAZING, LADIES IN BIKINIS AND NO STORY, AND IF YOU LET THAT GUY SHOOT A SUPERMAN MOVIE...THEN WE WILL SHOOT HIM!
While reading through AICN's talk-backer list (which, as you can imagine with this sensitive topic, is very long) I came across this post, which perfectly sums up my opinion:
....make this flippin ridiculous rendition of Superman. How one of the largest and most historically successful American companies can put forth such a succession of spectacularly bad ideas (do we need to list them all?) has got to be the clearest evidence yet that Gerald Levin was trying to do us all a favor.
Go ahead and make this monstrosity and ask yourself why no one will go see it. Companies kill themselves trying to (to coin a parlance the people obviously running the studio love) "create a brand" like Superman. McG's version of Superman will be as disposable as one of those goddam AOL discs that litter the streets of America. Brilliant move WB. The development of this project has to be one of the most spectacular train wrecks ever and it has NOTHING to do with internet "fans" second-guessing you WB but EVERYTHING to do with you not even knowing your own goddam product. Do what you will.
That just about sums it up.
It's Superman, one of the most culturally iconic and recognisable fictional figures in history next to Mickey Mouse and they let McG handle it. I'm hoping this is still extremely hyped rumour and not fact.
...has the world gone fucking mad?!
This is almost like the time when one of the producers of The Crow suggested that the film be a musical and star Michael Jackson: AND HE WAS SERIOUS.

I think I'm bleeding.
Good fucking night. This is possibly the biggest cluster-fuck of a superhero movie ever. If it can be fucked up, WB does it, though. Assholes. If Beyonce is cast as Lois, then there's no point in my even seeing it, let alone wasting eight fucking dollars to do so.
