The Goblet of Fire is definitely going to be one movie. Mike Newell has confirmed this, and he thinks "two movies would be an embarassment, really."

I pray that this movie will be good under Mike "Four Weddings and a Funeral" Newell's direction. Bizarre choice of director, imo, as GoF is no chick flick...

But never mind, whatm do you think about it? Is Newell right, or should GoF pull a Kill Bill?

i would love to see 2 movies!!!! im not sure y the studios would even consider making this HUGE book into one movie. i mean look how much movie the past two films have generated can't the studio see that they would make twice as much money if they strectched this out into two projects?

It's a long book, but there's really no need for it to be two movies. It still has the narrative and dramatic structure of a single story. Sure, probably more will have to be cut than was done from the previous two films... but hey, that's why they call it an "adaptation." ;)

I agree with Karuku. The structure of the story is that of it wouldn't work at all as a 2-parter film. There are some things that can be cut out (especially at the start) to make the film shorter. And Rowling went into a lot of depth description-wise with that one, sometimes for an entire 2 paragraphs to a page. It won't be too difficult as one film.

Running Time Prediction: 168 minutes

Neither were Donnie Brasco or Pushing Tin - but Newell directed them as well.

I think he'll be a great director but I'll be pretty disappointed if GoF doesn't clock in at at least 3 hours personally.

Anything less than 160 minutes will be a disappointment.

Personally, I'd like to see between 180-210 minutes. I'd like a movie that doesn't assume I don't have the attention span of a howler monkey. On the same note, I'd like a movie that'll shut little kids up for 3 1/2 hours.

It's hard to discuss GoF when I'm already going nuts counting the seconds 'til PoA hits theaters this summer !!!!!
