LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Tough guy Russell Crowe has something to cry about. The Oscar-winning actor sustained a minor injury -- a dislocation with damage in his right shoulder -- while being trained in boxing for his forthcoming role in "Cinderella Man."

He reportedly will undergo arthroscopic debridement and repair surgery in Australia, followed by intense physiotherapy.

The injury came while Crowe was in the boxing ring training in Sydney. Crowe's dislocated shoulder is expected to delay the start of production on the film by approximately one month. Principal photography is now scheduled to begin in early April.

This is the same shoulder that Crowe injured just prior to filming "Flora Plum" co-starring Meryl Streep and Claire Danes, consequently halting its production as well. Crowe was replaced by Ewan McGregor.

"I've never known any actor who dedicates himself to a part with more intensity than Russell," says Brian Grazer, producer of "Cinderella Man." "He approaches every role with a rigorous discipline, using his mind, his body and his spirit. To prepare for his role as Jim Braddock, Russell has been training with some of the foremost boxing instructors in the world, and that commitment is what led to the injury to his shoulder."

Under the direction of Ron Howard, "Cinderella Man" stars Russell Crowe, Renee Zellweger and Craig Bierko. A release date has not been announced.
