This has had different forms to it on this board(Best Twist, etc.) but I don't think that we've done the actual best twist. So Here is my top 10 list:

10. Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail(most hated it, but I loved it. reminded me so much of the tv show, where things just happen out of nowhere)
9. The Matrix(he is the one)
8. The Shawshank Redemption(Andy beats the system)
7. Empire Strikes Back
6. Reservoir Dogs(classic. classic)
5. Pulp Fiction(had the most anti-climactic ending ever, which made it that much more great)
4. Monty Python's Life of Brian(Always look on the bright side of life...)
3. American History X(a perfect example that just because you've changed your mind about people, it doesn't mean that they've changed theirs)
2. The Green Mile(had me crying like a tubby bitch with a skinned knee)
1. The Usual Suspects(no more needs to be said)

Primal Fear had a good ending but i saw it coming.
Dead Man Walking had probably the saddest endings.
I loved the last scene in In The Company Of Men.
American History X was the most moving despite the fact someone on these boards already spoiled it for me (forget who).
any Kubrick movie will leave you thinking, namely 2001, Clockwork, and Full Metal Jacket.
Fight Club!!!!!!
Rushmore's ending was classic, i loved it.
Jackie Brown's ending was probably the best thing about the movie.
Of course Reservoir Dogs.
the ending from Man on the Moon almost put a tear in my eye the first time i saw it.
American Beauty!!!!
Scarface's ending was awesome.
Jerry Maguire man, this was the only time i saw my uncle cry.
Shawshank Redemption of course.
Truman Show.
Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels' ending had me cracking up.
Usual Suspects, since this movie came out ever movie has a twist ending. Thank god most of them are better done than What Lies Beneath's.
12 Monkeys, never saw that coming.
Se7en's ending was great.
The Graduate had a classic ending.
Cuckoo's Nest ending was brilliant.
Dr.Strangelove had the one of the coolest and most memorable endings.
Casablanca's ending was classic.
Swimming With Sharks, the forgotten Spacey movie with a twist.

These are MY personal favorites. Not all of them necessarily have a twist ending. I just remember saying "wow" at the end.

The Devil's Advocate wasn't all a dream. ::SPOILERS::

Remember how that one guy morphs into Pacino at the end? That signifies that he really is the Devil.

Two stick in my mind.

01: Arlington Road. How often do we see the bad guy WIN.

02: A Time To Kill. But more so just prior to the end when Matt Mcconahay said, "Now imagine if she was white." That quote will stick with me forever.

The Wizard of Oz ending pissed me off if that hag told me I could have gone home all the time by clicking my heels three times I would have busted her damn pink floating bubble.
The sixth sense ending was the all time greatest I didn't see it coming but once you knew the ending you had to see it again and then you pick up all the clues it as also a hard ending to keep to your self and not ruin it for everybody who had not seen the movie
The shining's endng was also a great ending if nothing else it was spooky and surprising
I can't remember the name of the movie but it had claie danes and danny devito and it was a grisham book but it was a great little man beats the system ending

retardinAz - I know what you are saying about the reporter morphing into the devil - but the rest of the movie is Keanu imagining what road he would end up going down if he tears the girl apart on the stand. I think Pacino showing up in the final frame was just saying that our lives don't boil down to just one choice, it is every choice we make that determines how we end up.

cow - You are a very intelligent person to love Braveheart. After I saw the movie the first time, I thought, "What the hell am I doing with my life?" I mean William Wallace brought a whole country to the beginning of revolution, and I complain when there is a long line at Wal-Mart!

Joe Bob Jim - Great pick in Psycho!

I don't understand you guys ...

How come "The Sixth Sense" is everywhere, but "The Devil's Advocate (1997)" is almost nowhere ..

"The Devil's Advocate (1997)" was released before and had a similar ending ...

I guess I know why. When a movie is good & has a good ending, people don't notice that the ending is great. When a movie is boring -the 6th sense for example- and has a good ending (as good as the other movie) ... people will notice more it's a good ending.

Is it the case ?

Yes Phydaeult that is the case, although I wouldn't call 6th Sense boring as much as just bad.

Kick @$$ endings:

1. The Shawshank Redemption. Who would have thunk it?

2. Fight Club.

3. Seven.

4. The Sixth Sense--Though I did guess it way before hand. How? Because people kept talking about the "twist" at the end of the movie so I went in looking for it. Had I not known about the twist, the ending would have blown me away, probably.

5. The Game---Unfortunately, someone told me the plot to this whole film before I saw it. . including what happened at the end.

6. Duel/Close Encounters---Two great Spielberg flicks with awesome endings.

I would also have to say Edward Scissorhands, because though you wouldn't think it, it was great. Going from old Winona and cutting off to the still young Edward making ice sculptures and causing the snow fall.
