THIS WEEK'S NEW RELEASES
Intolerable Cruelty (George Clooney)
In The Cut (R-Rated Version) (Meg Ryan)
In The Cut (Uncut Director's Edition) (Meg Ryan)
Sylvia (Gwyneth Paltrow)
Wonderland (Val Kilmer)
Party Monster (Macaulay Culkin)
The Lion King 1 1/2 (Nathan Lane)
The Heart Of Me (Helena Bonham Carter)
The Shrink Is In (Courteney Cox-Arquette)
Here's the plot summary for the unknown titles:
THE SHRINK IS IN
Courteney Cox (TV's "Friends") takes the doctor/patient privilege to the extreme when she stars as Samantha, a neurotic writer whose therapist goes crazy and gets carted away. With the real shrink out of the picture, Samantha makes the insane decision to take over her practice fumbling and faking her way through treating two hot new male "patients." Mistaken identities and raging libidos all come together in this modern screwball comedy, as Samantha has the time of her life playing doctor! Also starring David Arquette (Eight Legged Freaks) and David James Elliott (TV's "JAG").
THE HEART OF ME
Based on Rosamond Lehman's book, "The Echoing Grove," "The Heart of Me" stars Olivia Williams and Helena Bonham Carter as sisters who become closer after the unexpected occurs in their lives. Paul Bettany plays a husband of one of the sisters who is having an affair with the other sister.

I will be buying the hilarious INTOLERABLE CRUELTY and possibly blind buying THE LION KING 1 1/2.
I will be renting SYLVIA since I love Gwyneth Paltrow.
I love Courteney Cox-Arquette, so I'll be renting THE SHRINK IS IN.
Nothing else interests me, except for WONDERLAND, which I might rent only because of the presence of Kate Bosworth and Lisa Kudrow, both of whom I love.

Not to complain or anything, but it seems a little too early to be doing next week's video/DVD releases a full week before they come out. I'd have waited at least a couple more days, but 'tis your call in the end.
Next Tuesday looks to be a pretty big one again...At first, all my store was set to get that I hadn't seen was IN THE CUT and SYLVIA, but today, I checked and saw that they're also set to get in THE LION KING 1 1/2 and WONDERLAND. The former of the two doesn't excite me that much, but I've been waiting to see the latter ever since I heard of it in pre-production stages. Solid cast, great poster, cool trailer...the reviews were so-so, but it looked like a solid flick to me.

Well it looks like I wont be getting anything.
Sylvia: Pretnetious and annoying with a very unlikable character. 2/10
In The Cut: Tries to be arty but fails with its one note and boring characterizations. 2/10
Intolreable Cruelty: Cohen Brother first failure. An absolutely annoying, unfunny and cutesy movie. 2/10
Three of the worst films of the year

Awww come on Hakari, someone's gotta give you competition.
I'll DEFINATELY be checking into Wonderland, but I'm going to rent it before buying it. I have a feeling it could be the magic that was "Blow".
I'll also be checking out Party Monster. I've heard things.

Competition? Why, I'm not afraid of competition...I'm always enthused to see other schmoes interested in upcoming DVD release dates. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to practice on my Thompsoncory Dartboard...umm, I mean, clarinet...damn good instrument there...
;):p
I'm with Adam. Don't get me wrong, I love ya Thompsoncory, and I don't really care who posts the thread, but this is getting too early. It really shouldn't be any earlier than Thursday. Last week it was Wednesday, now it's Tuesday. This weeks new releases just came out today. I think maybe we should wait until the second half of the week.

I entirely whole-heartedly disagree. I would probably agree if it was 8,9, or even 10 days prior... but this is the second post now where two "King of all schmoes" has stated that they would like other schmoes (Or Thompsoncory) to conform to their style and wait until the day that they are comfortable to post it.
You may not care who posts it like you said... but the triviality of it all really makes it seem otherwise. Sorry.

Awful week for DVD's, I may check out Intolerable Cruelty for the Coen Brothers but other than that there is nothing.
On second thought, Heart Of Me has some damn, good actors and actresses in it.

I don't think thompsoncory should conform at all. I was just expressing my views, is all, and I don't mean to boss anyone into doing what I say. A bossy arsehole is the last thing I want to be.

Yeah, it is a little early, but who cares? This DVD threads are fun .
Intolerable Cruelty didn't look very good to me, but it seems that I'd enjoy it. In the Cut is alla bout Meg Ryan, I wanna see it only because of her. Sylvia looked great and I love Gwyneth Paltrow, definitely a rental. Wonderland has a great poster and a good cast, might rent it. Party Monster looked weird and fucked up, my kind of movie. The Shrink Is In sounds like a nice comedy.
Awesome week for rentals. I wanna see almost everything.

Nothing looks interesting at all. I think I'll skip renting anything this week.

Wow, I never knew posting this thread a little early would be so controversial...:p
Just kidding, I just posted it early because I like these threads and in my eyes, the earlier they are posted the better.

Damn, there's a spoiler warning and yet I read through it without even realizing what I was doing. Oh well, I don't really care that much. It's not one of those things where it's like "OH MY GOD! I DIDN'T WANT TO KNOW THAT! NOW THE WHOLE MOVIE IS RUINED FOR ME!"

I haven't seen In the Cut yet so I need to see that. But the unrated edition is calling me. I might make a blind buy on that.

Wonderland (7/10) was pretty good, but ntohing I'd rush out to buy unless it was only like $10. Party Monster (4/10) was a massive disappointment and Once Upon a Time in the Midlands (6/10) was alright too. I still haven't seen Sylvia or Intolerabel Cruelty....I'll probably pick them up in a few weeks...

Renting INTOLERABLE CRUELTY and WONDERLAND
IN THE CUT is the one I'm really looking forward to seeing. It looks and sounds really good, and I love Meg and nudity :).
INTOLERABLE CRUELTY looks really unfunny and boring. I'll see it sometime, but probably not until there's nothing better to rent.
SYLVIA didn't interest me, but then I saw the trailer on the SWIMMING POOL DVD, and it actually looked pretty good. The C- Entertainment Weekly review isn't too promising, but I'll still probably check it out sometime.
PARTY MONSTER sounds so disgusting, sick, twisted, fucked up, and interesting. It has the sexy Mia Kirshner in it, so at least I know it will have something good about it. I just hope it's not too gross. I can handle pretty much anything, but this one sounds like it might be a little too sick. I'll rent it though.
WONDERLAND looked surprisingly solid, even if the reviews were bad. I'll rent.
I still need to see MY BOSS'S DAUGHTER since they were already all out when I went last Tuesday.
I'll also probably check out PORN THEATRE and BRITNEY BABY ONE MORE TIME, which also come out this week. I've read good reviews for both.

I'm interesting in Britney Baby One More Time, thats on my Netflix list. Although Porn Theatre does not come out this week, it's release in "unknown."
Anyways...
Basically everything is on my Netflix list...
In The Cut
Intolerable Crulity
Sylvia
Wonderland
Party Monster
Lion King 1/2
Great week!
I was surprised when I opened the case for Wonderland after renting it Tuesday to find two disks. I don't recall knowing it was a 2-Disk DVD. That's pretty cool for this movie, since it wasn't exactly a huge hit.
Neither of my video stores got Party Monster. After looking and finding nothing, I asked the woman working (who is the manager, and a very cool and nice woman) if they had it, and she said "I don't think it's coming out this week. Someone asked for it earlier and I looked it up and think I remember it's coming out next week." I was more shocked that someone else asked for it ;). Anyway, she said "Nope, it did come out this week, but we didn't get it." So afterwards I went to the other video store, and they didn't have it either. I guess I won't get to see it, maybe someday/somehow, but not now.

Well the couple of places I looked said it did, although Rotten Tomatoes said it came out February 5th.

I was also surprised. Alledgedly, the movie'll only have that extra disc for a limited time, although I have my doubts. If you have time, I'd recommend watching the 2nd disc since it's a very good documentary about some of the events of the story
