This is some really good news, theres 3 Chuck Pahlaniuk movies in production in 2004! This is one of my favorite authors so Im diying to see some of his work go on the silver screen again, after all Ive seen fight club waaaaay to many times. Something new from the mind of Chuck wouldnt hurt. Check it out, this is form Dark Horizons:

A new posting over at "Fight Club" author Chuck Palahniuk's official site by the webmaster reveals what the man himself is up to this year after just talking with him in Portland:

"Chuck calls 2004 his "movie year." He told me he's got three movies of his getting the greenlight in '04.

Invisible Monsters
Yes, it seems young writer/director Jesse Peyronel finally got the funding he needed from Miramax. So they can finally go into production and begin casting and crewing. So expect to hear a lot of news pouring in soon on this one.

Choke
Chuck always said that if he were positive which novel of his would see the big screen next (after Fight Club), it would be Choke. So I don't know which movie will see the greenlight first, but Chuck says Bandeira Entertainment (the company that put out Requiem For A Dream) finally has a finished script from writer Clark Gregg (What Lies Beneath) that they're ready to move on.

Diary
Yep, it seems Diary beat Lullaby to the finish line and will soon go into production. Like the rest, no cast or crew is attached. We don't even know who's writing this one. But I do know that the company that owns the rights to it currently is the same company that put out American Beauty".

Sadly...no movie project for Survivor wich is my favorite of all his books. What do you guys think? Is this good news or what?!

Well I heard rumors that Spike Jonze's new movie which is predicted to be a horror or suspense, could possibly be an adaptation of Chuck's Survivor. The screenwritter would ultimately be Charlie Kaufman, which would be awesome, but i doubt that will happen. It would be nice though.

I will keep my ears open for both of us :D

Invisible Monsters and Choke were both great books.

Haven't read Diary, yet, though.

He's doing Where the Wild Things Are and working on the horror movie...

He will make Where the Wild Things Are first, however.

Choke seems like the easiest to make into a movie.

Should be very interesting, and hopefully, brilliant.

Choke could make a good movie, although it doesn't really seem to have much of a story suited to a movie. I also wonder if it'll be as filled with sex as the book was

Of all of his books, I've actually only read Invisible Monsters (yeah, not even Fight Club), but I did love it.

Joblo posted some news about Choke getting made, this is cool it only confirms the fact that we will be seeing this cool book up on the silver screen soon!

"The Hollywood Stock Exchange say that Clark Gregg (WHAT LIES BENEATH) will adapt the novel for Bandera Entertainment."

This guy is brilliant, I hope they manage to do justice to his other books like they did Fight Club.

On a related note, did anyone else read his short story "Guts" in playboy a couple months ago? Ugh. Ughghggh....... Killed my appetite for the rest of the day. (And any urge to...self-fornicate. Track it down and read it, and you'll know why.)

March 2004 issue. Worth getting if even only for a story by Chuck.

I read only three of his books : Fight Club, Survivor and Choke. I liked Fight Club, but since I had already seen the movie, it kinda ruined the book for me.

Then, I read Survivor, which has become my favorite book. This would make a really really great movie. Especially if done by the Jonze/Kaufman team (although Survivor isn't a horror book at all, so I don't think the rumor is true...).

Finally, I read Choke and was a bit disappointed. It still had the great Pahlaniuk's style of writing, but I just thought by the end that it didn't really had a great storyline and that the sex scenes started getting kinda repetitive. But I still believe it could make a pretty good movie, if put in the hands of a decent director. I just hope they let some sex in it and don't get slashed by the MPAA.

there's some info on a movie titled "Diary" on movies.com. The short description "seems" like it is the same as the chuck book. Jennifer Aniston is attatched to star. And it is being produced by Pitt and Aniston's production company called Plan B.

Now whether these are one in the same, I have no idea. But yes this is cool.

Charlize Theron has been thrown about as a lead in invisible monsters.

Show that shit!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay...a deformed Theron. :(

I'm pretty sure that Diary starring Jennifer Aniston is not the Chuck book. She wouldn't make a good Misty anyways.

I wonder who will be cast as Victor? I can see Edward Norton, but I wouldn't want him to become a Palahniuk regular.

God, I love Chuck Palahniuk's novels.

Choke would make a great movie if they cast it right. But, it may not appeal to the mainstream crowd. Sex, re-enactments, crazy mothers and more sex don't really seem like a hit.

Yeah I read that "Guts". Oy vey. I got a little woozy during the pool filter bit.

I dont know if choke would make a good movie...I liked the book, but Im just not sure it if would translate well to the screen as an entertaining film. Im sure if put in the hands of a decent director they could come up with something...but come on that ending in Choke is like the least cinematic ending ever! But hey, Im sure theyll figure a way to make something cool and interesting to look at...hey those buildings blowing up in Fight Clubs ending werent even in the book!

Of all his books, I think Survivor gets my vote for the one that should get to the silver screen the fastest! The story is just great, its my favorite Pahlaniuk book and I just love the dark humor in it! Too bad Sept. 11th fucked any chances of this going to the silver screen. What with it having a plane crashing in the Australian outback and all..

Also Lullaby with its supernatural, wickan witches, book of the dead angle would make a kick ass movie! I hope that Lullaby at some point gets made. I would love to see it. To me its my favorite Pahlaniuk after Survivor.

I read this too. Damn. Almost killed me. My one caveat with movies based on Chuck's books: they better not suck. No suckage. Other than that, I'm looking forward to them.

I just read some news that Survivor will get made into a film! Check this out! Chuck Pahlaniuk said this about his upcoming film projects in a book signing q&a thing he did in Chicago:

“Survivor
Chuck says that it now WILL be made into a film! It sounds like the Paltrow screenplay is out, since he said the "hot duo" behind the upcoming CONSTANTINE want Survivor to be their next project. He did say that they were still seeking the rights to adapt the screenplay, but who knows how long until actual filming begins. Sounds interesting!”

Boy am I glad to hear that! That whole thing about the project being put on hold after 9/11 was a set back, (I mean the main character does hijack a plain and crash it into the australian outback) but now finally it looks like well be seeing Survivor on the big screen.

”Invisible Monsters
Is supposed to begin production THIS YEAR with Jessica Biel starring in dual roles! This dark story about disfigured and insane supermodels, according to Chuck, is also trying to get either Val Kilmer or Billy Crudup in the male lead.”

Choke
No casting news, but according to Chuck it is supposed to begin production late this year.

Diary
Will begin production next year.

Chuck also said his screenplay adaptation for the novel CHEMICAL PINK is officially dead. No word on his project(s) with Spike Jonze, but he did say he has "several, big projects" cooking with David Fincher. He sounded confident that one of them will begin production soon, but he said he is unable to talk about any of them at the present moment".

That's real good news, but I don't know about Jessica Biel. She really has not proven to me that she's more than eye candy.

Survivor was amazing book!!

I know it's a little off-topic but, I'm just curious:

What are your casting chioces for the lead character (Tender Branson) and/or poeple for Fertility Hollis and Adam Branson?

I think that Edward Norton would make a great Tender Branson. I mean, the character beefs up towards the middle or so, right? He proved he can do that with American History X.

...Or maybe I'm just thinking of Fight Club too much.

I think Sam Rockwell could play Tender Branson.

I swear to God as I read the book, I thought of Edward Norton as Tender Branson too! And as Fertility Hollis I allways had Wynona Ryder in mind for some reason. I guess its cause I envisioned her as dark and gloomy kind of the way she was in Beetlejuice.

I think SURVIVOR would make the best film, followed closely by INVISIBLE MONSTERS. I don't think CHOKE would be that good, unless they made some drastic changes. It's just too anti-climactic.

Who ever said Rockwell for Tender Branson, I like that choice, but what about when he gets all roided up?

INVISIBLE MONSTERS is my favorite book by Palahniuk, so I'd recommend that next. I thought SURVIVOR was best after that, although to be fair, I'm still in the middle of DIARY.
