Finally got my DVD of this terrific movie today .
It really is one of the best British horror movies ever made . Plus the dvd is packed with extras such as commentaries , featurettes , trailers etc etc etc .
I've always been a huge fan of this film and can't recommend it highly enough .............. check it out :D

Yeah this is a good chiller. I haven’t seen in a long time though. The retrospective in the last Fangoria is a good read. About how they didn’t want Lee or Cushing so it wouldn’t be thought of as a Hammer movie. I’ve been meaning to check it out again. Does it have a region 1 release?

That was a good article in Fangoria .
I'm pretty sure it's got a region 1 release as it's from Anchorbay .
Pardon my ignorance but are multi region dvd players not the norm yet in America . In Britain they retail for under £40.00 ( $70.00 ) and can be bought in most supermarkets .
It sure takes the hassle out of worrying about region releases .
Anyway , back to the film . I can see why the producers did'nt want Lee or Cushing . That would have stamped a certain style on the movie and they were looking to be independant .
I read a review years ago stating that " the English countryside has never looked so menacing or so bleak " .
It really is one of a kind and a little gem .
If you like The Wicker Man or Witchfinder General then you should enjoy " The Claw "

The title sounds familiar--help my memory...is one of the characters an attractive blonde who has a monobrow from hell during possessed/evil moments?

Yeah, it sounds like you're talking about Blood On Satan's Claw - it's also known as Satan's Skin and a couple of other titles. The character you're referring to is Angel Blake (I believe either Danzig or The Misfits wrote a song with this title too), and she was played by Linda Hayden.

Blood On Satan's Claw is one of my all-time favourites - it's actually one of the films that got me interested in old English horror. I didn't know that it was out on DVD, so thanks for the info, Cushing - I'll definitely have to pick that up.
