One of the best things while watching a movie is having no expectations of it whatsoever. If the movie you watched sucked, you'll be like, no big deal, while if the movie was really great you'll go on about it for days. There are also the movies in which you only heard bad reviews about and once you sat down and watched it, you loved it. Here are some movies that "surprised" me in a good way.
Return to Paradise
Wyatt Earp
Dead Man's Curve
The Dead Zone
Bride of Chucky
BASEketball
Savior
The Killing
Under Suspicion
Reindeer Games
2 Days in the Valley

Although I had no interest in it whatsoever, my girlfriend convinced me to watch "Strictly Ballroom", and I loved it. The mockumentary style at the beginning won me over, and despite the fact that I could see every plot twist coming from a mile away, I felt like the film worked because Baz Luhrman didn't take his subject matter too seriously. Simply a fun movie.

Believe or not:
The Sixth Sense
The Usual Suspects
Good Will Hunting
Notting Hill
Billy Eliot
Conspiracy Theory
Swingers
Were some that were surprisingly better than I thought would be.
