I saw this the other night. It kept my attention but wasn't a great movie by any means.**** SPOILER**** Brittney Murphy was the damsel in distress and Jay Mohr was the villian.Although there are some good moments in the film, the lose your cherry party was cool.I still cant say i loved this movie but it was kinda entertaining.I give it a six out of ten.

JP, I don't mean to be a jerk, but I think you should have put up a spoilers warning...

I thought the movie was pretty decent, I guess I feel the same way about it as you. I do have to say that Brittany Murphy does do it for me!

I hated this movie. The humor wasn't funny, the kills were unsatisfying, the characters were annoying, and the pace moved slowly. Although I did like the concept of the film but that's pretty much it.

finally saw this one for the first time the other night -as I 'm guessing that's when a lot of you schmoes saw it,too - and WOW was I disappointed. I kept hearing such good things about it and really, aside from Jay Mohr - who for the first time ever in my knowledge of his presence, I want to grind (yeah, he's that good) - it really fell short.

Brittany Murphy is such a good and spirited actress and she seemed so wasted in this. Not drug induced (like her new heroin-boned self now) but "talent wasted." It was very welcoming to see Michael Biehn back but even he is wwwway better than this.

Started off a great idea, interesting plot twists but still - just one sour cherry.

i liked Cherry Falls, its a lot better than most of the other slasher films from the last 10 years, the acting was very good and i wish they'd release the uncut version so all the gore'll be back in it

i liked the end adn i didnt manage to guess the killer until the last 30 minutes or so

its a great film and at least it has an interesting plot, something rare in modern slasher films that usually just recycle the same old kinda stories

9/10

I still haven't gotten around to seeing this movie yet, but I did manage to read the script and loved the script, but I've been told a TON of what was in that script never made it to the finished product...

9/10 I agree with all you said. Except for not being able to guess the killer. I thought it was very obvious.

For some reason I really had a ball watching this. I know its usually against most I stand for in modern horror but it was super fun ;) Loved the deaths, the acting went over well. Thought it was entertaining

I saw this on TV and was reasonably entertained. When I heard how brutal the uncut version was I resolved to get it if it ever comes out. Looking at the running times I figured that the UK DVD was the cut version so I didn't bother with it.

I loved this movie, I just wish I'd seen the real version. I like Brittany Murphy in this movie because it was post-Clueless, pre- Don't Say A Word and before she lose weight and turned into a skinny celebrity princess

I thought this film was okay. I watched it more because of what it lacked having been cut to pieces. There was potential there, I just don't know if was enough to sustain the anticipation of those who had read about the edits. Oh well... at least Barry from Carbon Leaf has a brief cameo!!

By the looks of it, it will probably never happen ...

I asked Wright about this shortly after the film came out and to make a long story short, his intended cut never made it past a low-res AVID stage. Of course, since that time he was not only forced to remove and recut extensive sections of the film, he was also forced to reshoot softer variants of everything from sex and violence to the more provocative lines of dialogue. In order to do a restoration, a full re-assembly would essentially be required, and they would need to go through endless cans of neg and mountains of editing notes to even come close to doing it right. Now, this certainly isn't impossible - indeed, Frank Mazzola did exactly that when he undertook the retoration of Donald Cammell's brilliant director's cut of WILD SIDE - but it is a very costly endeavor. I would like to think that someone would at least have a semi-watchable VHS of the first cut for easy reference, but I'm not sure.
I do agree, CHERRY FALLS is a unique, subversive satire that in its current version feels wholly tampered with. It consistently falls short of achieving the greatness that was so clearly within reach (and that I've no doubt, Wright must have initally attained - hence the uproariously knee-jerk response that his cut received from both the MPAA and USA films).

What's really awful is that had October Films not gone under and been taken over by USA while the film was in production, Wright would have almost certainly had people fighting in his corner and the film could very well have come out relatively untouched.

It's bitterly ironic that the actual negative was re-worked to achieve an R-rating for the US theatrical release...destroying the opportunity for multiple release cuts and meaning that every international territory was now stuck with the bastardized version... and it had a theatrical run almost everywhere in the world EXCEPT for the country it was mutilated for!

I saw it on TV last Halloween and I thought it was okay. Not very good but not very bad either. It had its moments, I guess. It sucks that it was cut up so badly, as it sounds like it could have been a better film without all the edits.

Maybe this movie needs a "re-imagining" with the same director

My main problem with this film was POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD the fact that a majority of the victims were characters introduced just minutes before their deaths. I didn't know much about these characters, why should I care if they get killed off? To me a good slasher is one that introduces the characters, gets you caring about them, sets up the situation....and then starts offing them. I never felt that anybody in this film, aside from Brittany Murphy, was ever in any real danger, and that robbed the film of much of its suspense. Oh yeah, and Gabriel Mann's acting was just shocking. Painful to watch. Did the director owe him a favour or what? That said, I got enjoyment out of the movie - it was pretty subversive and off-beat.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one, admittedly the movie wouldve kicked much more ass had it been left uncut, but I still enjoyed the final product....

Cherry Falls was on late last night so I decide to give it a shot. I never really wanted to see it, but since Michael Biehn had a starring role I gave it a chance. I thought Biehn and Brittany Murphy did a good job. The story was alright. But there was no blood or nudity. I'd put it in league with Disturbing Behaviour and those teen horror flicks that really arent scary or gory.

I think the movie had some really lame moments. Some charectar actions and some of the dialogue was really bad. But I think it was on purpose.

2/4 Saw it once and dont need to see it again.

This was a good movie. I haven't watched it in a long time, so no idea how well it holds up today. Originally, the movie had a lot of nudity and violence, but either they were not filmed or were cut out.

I did buy the DVD that was a double feature. There was nudity in it, but not the type you really want.

Cherry Falls has a somewhat clever premise for a slasher flick but I didn't like it. I found it to be decidedly mediocre. And Jay Mohr, who I usually like, I thought was terrible in the movie.
