So who's up for fantasy baseball?

Yahoo's should be up and running soon and might be up now. I haven't checked in a couple of days.

However, I'd rather not be commisoner this time around, because theres a very good chance I'll be MIA for a few weeks during the springa and summer. It's really not a big deal. Just set the league up and aprove trades is about all the extra work that it requires. (I'm looking in PJ's direction for this job) :D ...that is if that drinking problem of yours won't get in the way.

Just seeing how many are interested.

Let's see #1 in the NBA pool, #2 right now in the NHL pool and finished #5 in the NFL pool so hell yeah I'm interested in this one.

As for League commisoner I'm not sure there might be a a week or so where I might be MIA as well but most of time I'm around I love summer vacations

I was going to post about this actually as I was willing to be Comissioner. I'm sure there will be a week or so when everyone is MIA over the summer but I'm just working all summer, so I'll be a perfect choice. Anyone who wants to sign up, put a message in here and I'll get to you when registration is open.

Bmain can have the Tigers, the rest of us can split the players from the other teams.

I'm definately up for it. I was in one about 10 years ago and had a blast. I don't care who the commish is, but I think we all need to agree on some rules of how to handle teams that become dead over the course of the year. You know it's going to happen either just by the person getting bored or some unforeseen reason why they cant have access to their computer.

What do you guys think of this idea?

I say before the season starts everyone agrees to turn on their option that will give control of the team to the commish. Once someone loses interest and their team is declared "dead" then the commish would take over responsibilites of setting the lineup on a weekly/daily basis (not sure how the baseball league works). I would suggest that all trades with the "dead team" would be disallowed as that could get shady. Example is this dead team in the basketball league not being willing for whatever reason to trade with me like is going on.

We need to agree on this before the season starts though.

I gave bmain permission to kill my team and disburse my players.

For some reason, I can no longer access Yahoo on my computer.

The hockey fantasy league had the same problems, but I want a vow from those who join that even if they are losing, don't just say FUCK IT and give away all your players, I think that's kind of unfair. Also, just stick with it through until the end! It's no big deal.

Now I was thinking of making it a head to head type deal like the Basketball league, would anyone prefer the Rotisserie points? To me it doesn't really matter

The fantasy NBA league was not exaclty like that but we have 4 MIA teams in there and the same with the NHL league there are about 4 teams that became MIA.

Trust me I will be sticking around for the whole season.

After experiencing the rossitere points and the head to head way I kind of like the head to head battle a little more and it gives almost every team a chance during the season like the NBA pool wether than the NHL pool where there are like 2 teams with a shot a first place.

Hey take it easy on the Tiger jokes. They actually had one of the better off seasons this year.:D But once their season starts going downhill feel free to rip them. I know I will.

It looks like you are the commish. Just make sure when you set up the league to be head to head. Head to head allows for more trash talk and so on.

I also agree with Papajupe as far as MIA owner thing goes. If your team sucks don't be a poor sport and just quit. Finish out the season. It's not like we can enforce some kind of punishment.

But I'm not the commish so I'll leave up all the decisions to you. I guess these are just some suggestions.

My biggest concern is just let it known way ahead of time before the draft happens. I signed up for the NHL one and then 2 days later my team was already decited before I had a chance.

Sign me up. After my stellar fantasy football perfomance, everyone should be scared to compete with me from now on! Private Message me the details when the league is up...

(By the way I will be out of the country from Feb. 21 till Mar. 1 so don't make the draft date during that time.)

Could I suggest Smallworld.com?

Its a bit different but basicly u can start a leauge and every team has a certain payroll. You just have to pick the players u want. You get trades every week and as a guy either gets traded or picked up his "salary" goes up of down. So if u do the right things your money goes up as the season goes. Plus every team could have say Pedro Martinez....Its not one for all.

I think its worth a look.

Lets do both...Yahoo and Smallworld...hey why not?

Oh we'll have to see about that.

I think with my current results in the NBA pool and NHL pool I might be the one with the bullseye considering I've done very good in both of those unfortunatley I didn't have suck luck with the NFL pool because I had to face the team with the Peyton Manning-Marvin Harrison and company and had to rip it up that week.

Well then let's make you the commish, horrorfreak. Let me know when the league is all set up, and I'll be ready to do some damage.

PS You beat me in the NBA league by one lousy point, hey... that wasn't very nice. :p ;)

When your team is good your team is good.

The league should be up sometime this month it said mid-February on the page so it should be up anyday this week.

If anyone is interested in trying two different games...go on over to Smallworl.com and sign up for the free "basic" Baseball season. Basicly they give u a payroll and u just put together a team. Every team can have any player so three teams could have A-rod if they wanted and u get trades every week.

The leauge name is "JoBlo's Season" No password is needed.

Not trying to cut in on Yahoo, ive just been playing Smallworld for years and thought Id share the fun.

Im also joining the Yahoo season.

Im joining as well because of the success ive had in the Hockey one. Though the league and my amazing rise from last to first was ruined with player dumps.

Horrorfreak, nice to see you at Smallworld...lets get it on!

There is thing that the game put in to make it a bit unfair and I wish they never did but as it is you get new trades every week...well now you can also buy more. which is not good.

You'll have to wait and see when you go in and set up the league, but I'm not sure it allows leagues that big. I think the biggest is 14...but I'm not positive on that. If I remember correctly both football and basketball were that way.

Plus at 16 teams thats spreading the talent awfully thin anyways. The rosters for baseball are fairly large.

It appears the potiential draft date of between March 2-5 I was planning will probably not happen because it's my March break and I might not get use of a computer that week but who knows. Just for safety puropses I'm going to do the draft in the middle of March.

I'd post this in the fantasy baseball thing but no one's been in for about a week. I did change a few stat categories so I suggest you check it out. I'm up to 14 and I don't want to add any more than that

There are still 2 spots available so the 2 people who didn't sign up or if anybody wants the last 2 spots better step up soon I'd like to do the draft between March 15 - March19th at the latest. I still advise everyone to their pre-rankings as soon as possible.
